Never really had much of an issue previously but since SU11 it’s been a nightmare. CTD issues include
Repeat CTD’s just south of Belfast in the PMDG 737, altered my routing then ok.
CTD on descent into Amsterdam in the default Dreamliner.
CTD just tonight in the BN2 Islander just before landing in Kushiro in northern Japan.
It would appear that there is some kind of waypoint bug plaguing the sim right now.
It would be nice with my very limited time to be able to chill out and enjoy my simming without the sense of trepidation as to if I will make it or not!!
Is this reproducible with a vanilla sim, (no mods in the Community Folder and marketplace addons uninstalled - easy way to test is to start the sim in safe mode)?
SU11 seems to be very stable for most folks. Not saying there aren’t some experiencing CTDs, but just stating that overall it’s one of the best builds so far in terms of stability.
That said, you need to diagnose first if the issue is the sim itself, or an add-on causing the issue. The only way to tell for sure is to start in Safe Mode (see link below to see how to do that). Fly with a default plane out of default airports and see if you experience CTD. If yes, then you know it’s an issue with the sim or potentially your hardware. If not, then you can probably suspect it’s a mod causing it.
Next step, empty your community folder and start with only marketplace add-ons. Start the same flight again with the same plane and see how that goes.
If that’s all good, then start again, adding a few mods at a time back to your community folder (not all of them).
Only by doing this will you be able to determine what the cause of the CTD is on your end and whether or not YOU are able to fix it.
Yes, I have seen that, but haven’t closely read them lately.
I do wonder if any were checked with a vanilla sim though.
Mod conflicts are always the first thing that must be ruled out.
I have yet to experience any myself in that area.
I did this once, a big reinstall, and it made zero difference to my performance back then. It takes a lot of time though and its not great on your SSD with that amount of space.
What I did do after some unstable performance on SU11 Beta was resetting the MSFS app in windows. Very stable and smooth ever since.
When you head here and select ‘advanced options’, you have the ability to repair or reset the MSFS program settings. Doing so, it basically rebuilds the CFG file and clears all the packages-folders as to reinstall them during the next start up. I suppose some addons just don’t get updated in time and/or files are just redundant over time and this way in runs the most efficient again. It’s like a reinstall light, but this one only takes 5 seconds.
I haven’t had any CTD issues with any of the Sim Updates. It’s such a small number of people, that report this, it’s becoming clearer, and clearer, that those people must have a software installed on their machines, that conflicts with MFS in some way.
