Why is the FPS worse at night?

There is less scenery to draw but more lights. Why does this effect FPS? I guess the scenery is being drawn, but I just can’t see it.

It’s the lighting. The light is simulated to refract off of nearby objects and clouds. Since they’re small focused points of light, and there’s a lot of them, it hammers your GPU.

you’d think there could be a graphics tradeoff though from scenery that isn’t being lit and scenery that is lit to stabilize the frame rate. quite literally some cannot fly at night if they are barely making frames in daytime.
