Why no Airbus / Boeing variants?

Just a thought (and apologies if this has already been discussed here before)!

Since Asobo / Microsoft have the 787-10, 747-8 and A320N with the sim, wouldn’t it be easy to have the 747-8F, 787-8, 787-9, A319, A321 along with them as well.

They all share the same cockpit throughout their respective variants that are already in the sim. Most of (not entirely) the outside structure is the same. Only difference being fuselage length, hump size (747) and ofcourse doors.

The CG and weight will all have to be different depending on the variants, I know.

The only reason I can think of for not having other variants is the license to buy them from Airbus / Boeing as it means multiple licenses and that costs money.

Cheers,
N

Better use resources to fix the sim than create non-study-bugfull airliners. That’s why 3rd party developers exist (PMDG, Fenix, FSLABS, Aerosoft…)

Exactly. Instead of half-assed default planes, they should focus on the core-sim and let the rest for 3rd parties who can do a better job at this. Its a matter of time tho.

Personally im not interested in basic default planes at all. I would not touch a default airliner anyway, i prefer to wait for a deeper simulation like PMDG, FENIX, FSLABS, Majestic, and such.

Yup. The Default aircrafts of Asobo/MS look stunning no question but the system depth is low and partially wrong. Thats why I can only agree with the other posts here. MS/Asobo should focus on the core sim and the SDK. This way 3rd parties (freeware and payware) can and will deliver better products.

Completely agree, however, already having an exterior model and partially working cockpit helps 3rd party addon makers (FBW for example), which is why I thought that making the variants would have been easier for MS / Asobo when they launched the sim.

FBW A3nx is a special case since it started as a mod and grew. Still is a fork development of the default plane.
3rd parties normally won’t do that, they will develop their own model “from scratch”. Like FBW do with their A380X.
The core sim, like any other platform in the market, current or older, provides a bunch of default planes to enjoy the whole thing, but from that point it’s up to the community.
