I am reinstalling MSFS to a new computer. I live in a rural area with failry low (20Mbits/sec) internet speed, so the download of the full 114Gb is going to take a day or so. As I watch it roll past, I know that much of the download is stuff I will never use - liveries, airports, tutorials. One of the good things about X-Plane is being able to download regions of the world when you want them… or not. Would it be too difficult to develop a menu download - choose the aircraft, liveries and regions that you want… and add others later?
You know that if your other machine is still working, you can copy the sim from that machine to the new machine, and at least for steam launch it there, it will then download the steam portion of the game start to run and then ask you where the install is. Just point it to your installed directory and it will finish from there. You wont need to download the whole sim again.
I do this on the same machine with win 10 and 11 on it, and it uses the same base game, and only updates the steam end of it. I have also copied from my desktop to my laptop and the same thing applies…
