Come and join us in The Wilga Bush Racing Series!*

*Wilga encouraged, but not required

Casual group flights with a focus on fun and a bit of friendly “semi-racing” competition in some stunning locations.

If you do own the Wilga, we are using the 35X or 80X, but feel free to join in any Bush type aircraft if you don’t have the Willy!

Sorry for the delay in this event since the previous one and short notice for posting it, but I was away from home for the last 2 weeks so just catching up to my usual schedule. ALSO I HOPE THE TIME COMES THROUGH CORRECTLY THIS TIME!!

Sunday 23rd April at 16:00 UTC (17:00GMT)

A visit to the legendary Nordschleife circuit, scene of some of the most memorable moments in motorsport history, and scene of some of the biggest accidents. Nearly 21km of twisting and undulating tarmac to follow through the forests of the Eifel Mountains, stay as low as you dare. A couple of the hairpin turns towards the end of the lap could be tricky requiring going out wide to make it around.

SUMMARY:

• AIRCRAFT: Wilga 35X or 80X (or similar performance light GA / bush plane)
• MEET: Cologne Bonn [EDDK] @ Runway 14R. We will head South to the circuit.
• WHEN: Sunday 23rd April 2023 at 16:00 UTC (17:00 GMT)
• SERVER: West Europe
• REGISTER: Post your name here or just turn up a little before the time and we’ll see you there. Feel free to Join my Discord (link below)
• FUEL: 100% filled
• LIVERY: Any DEFAULT Wilga livery (important so we see each others Willys )
• ENGINE REALISM: On (please, but see the route guide - it’s not required if you prefer not to deal with Shock Cooling on this course!)
• FLIGHT PLAN: Meet at the airfield. Ideally join my Discord Voice Radio Channel so we can synchronise starting and talk during the event.
• RACE: Unlimited laps but let’s just have fun! Nothing strict, just some stunts’racin’n’fun

We will follow the track in clockwise direction, starting from the pit garage area. The first section is a little hard to spot but the rest is easier to see. Unfortunately it is a bit of a flight from the nearest airport but a chance to warm your engine and burn a bit of fuel for extra speed in the race and have a friendly banter on the way

The 2 mods are not super critical but the first removes stray trees from the road course, and the other adds some pylons to mark turning points (and hopefully avoid a bit of mild cheating opportunities )

That was a pretty intense workout! I’m knackered now from the concentration. Was like a real motor race in some ways. Pushed Wilma to her limits and beyond there. I did make a video so I’ll post a link when it gets uploaded

It’s a bit long but the best action was at 00:44:30 and after that I was starting to get into a rhythm and nail some corners I had been missing prior. Still a lot of mistakes though!

Was a tough one to be sure, but I would like to return one day and give it another bash as it’s definitely possible to do 95% properly. Just that carousel and the right hander a few turns before it are a total nightmare!
