Stutters are impossible to remove totally. Too many variables like planes, weather and scenery. Compare that to shooter or car racing game where the devs know exactly how much load will be placed on the system and can optimise accordingly.
If you are mainthread limited you need to lower your LODs … P.S. this advice may well be reversed by the next update
Having discussed stutters with a tech expert, they are usually caused by bottle necks relating to CPU’s ang GPU’s. He also stated that it can depend on the area and level of detail that needs to be loaded and that having all the highend gear will not necessarily stop stuttering.
I have found, after my discussions, that by tweaking my in game settings that my instances of stuttering has decreased dramatically to the point where they nearly don’t exist.

Rtx 3070 i7-9700?
Is my combi a good one rtx 3070 i7-9700??
but I am not “restricted” anywhere, I can start iRacing on the side and play almost smoothly !!!
It’s not about the settings, but that my system is not being used to capacity with any settings. (unless I set resolution scale up to 150% or higher, then the load on the graphics card increases), otherwise the 3090 hardly has anything to do!
But maybe it’s a first step towards DX12, who knows, just wait and see, I think it will get better!
Good combo. I went from an I7 to the I9 and went from a max of 30FPS to (depending where I am flying) to at times upwards of 70 FPS and in areas where there is a lot to load (cities and addon scenery) from 15-19FPS to 25-29FPS.
So, I put my improvements to the upgrade to the Intel I9. Of course I had to buy another mother board and cooling system and I spent upwards of AUD$800 to do it but, for me, worth it.
This is correct. The issue s not peoples system. It’s Asobo failure to optimize the sim. I mean, come on, how is such a demanding sim still running major workloads on individual cores and not spreading the load??
I don’t have that, I am now very satisfied with the sim, after update 5, I was no longer satisfied, CTD several times, in save mode it was ok, but then all my addons were disabled, I did not purchase anything via the shop, now I buy back. even mod that used to give CTD work without problems, we have even better life trafic.
I’ve had flight simulator since FS4 came out, this is the best sim I’ve had, aerofly2 is even more smoot, but no atc and less scenery. sometimes you can’t hear the ATC anymore, but you can hear yourself.
Shutting down and booting up your computer before flying can help.
I hope update 7 doesn’t break anything.

That what i think too, that it is limmited in someway. I used the sim before SU5 and there i could get over 20gb used on my 32gb ram system. Now it’s not going over around 11gb used as max. Can it be limmited to under 16gb ram usage because xbox series x does not have more than 16gb ram in that system? In that case our systems that has much more ram than that needs to work all the time. If we had some more ram usage we would have some buffer, am i not right that could make the sim more smooth? That terrain pre caching setting they introduced where is that cached? isn’t that cached in the ram or where is that cached? If we goes over this limit we think existing where is that terrain pre caching stored?
I have the occasional FPS dip near major areas but the sim stays smooth. I haven’t seen the “stutters” in sometime. I’d suggest looking at your setup or mods.
Actually the sim is using less ram now, before su5 i could have more than 20gb ram used and now it rarely goes above 11gb. Maybe that is good i don’t realy know and i know the renderscaling affect fps but those tiny stutters when panning the camera is occuring even if the rendering is low. I hope they fix many other issues first though that is more important in my opinion. I just want to make my opinion about it and maybe it helps them find the problem
I was so happy with the performance after SU5 and with the pre terrain cach they introduced after now it is like after SU5 without pre terrain caching even if it set at ultra. Maybe they need to correct that setting because of the Terrain lod increase to 400 in SU6. Even if caching is set to ultra it feels like it needs to render it again anyway.
Yea the tiny stutters are just irritating me
good question but I think in the RAM, otherwise it wouldn’t do any sense. everything else would be too slow (except graphics card memory, but that’s usually less available anyway) !
Adsobo want us to report bugs and wait and wait LoL I wish they didn’t work on wish list just bugs list and then top wish list
Right, i just wonder why the sim suddenly needed this small amount of ram after SU5. Maybe that is some performance improvements. I was happy with the gains of FPS back then when the pre caching was introduced. I just want to know where that is cached. Is it in the gpu-memory or in our ram? Have you heard where it is saved?
I think that has something to do with the stutters. It behaves exactly like when they released SU5 without this pre caching. I always had it on ultra since then. When i increased that when it got released i got real smooth experience after that until after SU6.
That’s partly because they dumbed down the LOD to make it fit on Xbox. If you max out your LOD now since SU6, you can get a much higher RAM usage. Not as bad as before SU5 though. They did do a lot of optimization as well for SU5, so it wasn’t all LOD. After SU5, even with everything maxed (from the game interface, not from manually editing the cfg file), MSFS took less than 8GB.
But do they need to use that limit on pc as well? Or is it hard to code 1 without limits and one with limits?
I’m betting that was done so that at launch, the Xbox and PC versions would look exactly the same as launch, so Xbox wouldn’t look like the inferior platform. Microsoft have been trying to position the Xbox as the “ultimate gaming platform” for the better part of a couple of years now. It would look kind of bad if their flagship title looked significantly worse on their flagship platform than it does on PC.

I’m personally running fully maxed out aside from resolution scale at 100 (though I do bump this up at times).
