This is not what was said. Obviously, the featureset should be as identical as possible for all platforms, which we believe strongly.
My personal comments regarding the observation that the FBW A320 exists for PC and serves some of the missing space does not constitute any kind of prediction into future MSFS team plans nor does it represent any kind of official word on what future AAUs may or may not contain.
As we always say very often on our Discord, we do not comment on future plans or releases. Any other idle chatter is just that.
What? Iâve personally got sent Discord screenshots of evidence of the WT team definitely bringing world peace, ATC, commercial cold fusion plus a shampoo that requires you only to use one wash, all by Q3. Say it ainât so!
Theyâre smart to do that. But my takeaway from the original posting on here was WHY are there no plans to bring the default A320 (AAU whichever) up to the standards of the FBW. As such, according to what was also posted about what Matt said, was that there wasnât a reason/desire to do that since the AAU version was sufficient enough. The original poster was wanting the AAU version/default A320 to have the same functionality that the FBW did. Thus the issue of PC moded aircraft not being able to be used/or developed for Xbox. The core of my statement remains the same. Xbox is going to be limited to what can be used directly from the sim itself whether from Asobo or an external party like WT. But for others like FBW to bring their stuff to Xbox, it doesnât seem like thatâs going to happen anytime soon because of platform limitations and also âduplicating workâ - again why I mentioned why everything from PC (which is more open range) needs to be done for them as well (closed platform).
Actually I didnât mean for it to read like that, what I meant was it would be great if the default a320 got an overhaul like the 787 and 747 recently. Not sure where the FBW and Fenix got into the mix
I mentioned there was good 3rd party ones, but no where did I say or expect any future update to be on the same level.
An update of any kind would be great even if itâs not to the same standard as the FBW.
This is actually not correct. Excepting using external executables (which the FBW A320 does not do), there are no other limitations. The APIs for both platforms are the same. You can also just skip the sim systems and build your own in code, like many study level planes do, even some of the ones built by us (WT), like the Longitude, which has a boatload of custom systems (hydraulics, bleed air, electrical, fuel, etc).
Anyway, I should bow out, but just mostly wanted to clear up any misunderstandings.
Thanks Matt for the words from the horses mouth. Now you said that the APIâs are the same and all which is cool and that the sim systems could be skipped but would require building your own code. I think there lies the true core of it. Whoâs going to want to recode something for an entirely new platform for the same game. Especially someone as a solo developer and not getting $$ by Asobo. Correct me if Iâm wrong here.
Thatâs what all the big complex planes do already. Itâs the same code on all platforms, is what Iâm saying. PMDG 737, Maddog, CRJ, Fokker, the Longitude, some stuff on the new Boeings. Itâs already working today.
The AAU2 vastley improved the 747 and 787 FMC and a lot more.Making those birds very entertaining and fun to fly. But just a few more tweeks and it will be nailed . Maybe AAU3 will be the charm.
Apparently SU13 will include further 747 and 787 âfixes and improvementsâ, which is like a quasi-AAU3 I guess.
Itâs is a bit confusing but then we have World Updates, City Updates, Sim Updates, Expert Series Aircraft Updates and (Default)Aircraft and Avionics Updates ⊠they can be forgiven for interweaving some (sub)updates into other (big?)updates so as to get the (big)update out to the masses in the pre-scheduled (Name of update) update ???
Think of the AAU updates as new functionality. The SU updates are bug fixes and new functionality. Occasionally for important or easy bugs, stuff they couldnât get in a block release, theyâll slip those in in-between releases like World updates and, lately, just release bug fixes outright for aircraft just like 3rd party devs release updates unrelated to system updates.
Technically World and City updates are Scenery updates, usually new scenery, and donât normally have many bug fixes.
AAU updates are Sim Updates concentrating mostly on avionics subsytems, which involve not only the electronics and human interface, but also, and they donât really discuss it much, are technically a part of rewriting the whole navigation system in MSFS, upgrading/replacing it from its FSX roots, which is key to improving the system across the board from ATC and more.
