I have always got the impression that something was wrong, when I am parked on a runway, and there is wind, and I then start moving for takeoff. Then suddenly, the plane reacts to the wind !!!
Now I have Video Proof !!
Parked on a Runway, engine running, with lots of rain, and the windsock clearly visible.
Lots of rain … ( see windscreen) and lots of cross wind (see Windsock)
Engine Idle, rain drops land on windscreen, and run down windscreen under gravity. (GOOD)
Engine RPM High. Prop wash blows rain drops of to side of windscreen (GOOD)
So rain drops react to Prop wash.
But they DO NOT react to the strong crosswind (BAD)
Nor does the plane (BAD)
(low Rez / Small Video – don’t need a BIG, High Rez video to show this effect !! .
Keep your Internet D/L quota for re-installing MSFS !!! )
I have a really STRONG Crosswind !!!
Even when I started to move, the Wind effect on the aircraft was far less than I would have expected. With , low AirSpeed, I would have expected to be “Blow away” !!!
It was not till I climbed out, and my airspeed was higher, than I had to start a very significant heading change into the direction of the wind, to keep my original runway heading course.
(almost 45 degree . as expected … airspeed = 100, cross wind = 100 !! )
Like the strange CURVE Asobo “Fantasize” in the Flight Planner, I get the impression that there are some “make it an easier game to play” FUDGES going on during the Takeoff and Landing phases, when there are strong winds - or any winds !!!
To me its totally FUBAR – what is YOUR experience ???
