I have 456.71 running… ( Game Ready, not Studio )

OMG YES … I’ve been saying this ever since Release.
You Testers should have had this pre-release !!!
A MSFS “Manifest” APP
It knows all components, libraries etc, versions, checksums, etc that MSFS should have to run.
It then does through what the user has, and shows what is Up to date and as recommended by ASOBO for a particular MSFS release, and what is out-of-date and needs updating.
That would go such a long way to getting everyone on the same page, as well as provide a report of a users PC, when submitting a Bug report.
what you expect… they ( MS part of MSFS ) are not able to releases Windows-OS-Versions which not run into Blue-Screens because of Driver-Issues - how should Asobo can now know what works fine
… There are million of hardware/driver combinations…
Just allways check for latest updates,… in special for nvidia I remember me that there was a release with a special MSFS-changelog-entry…
On other side yes… It might be possible to say “use at least nvidia driver in version xxxx”
just… we know in meanwhile that it is a Early Access Release and badly say’d the Beta-Test for XBox-Version.
But, what I also must say , to be fair… I can fly now… there are issues with airplane, open points , missing real-sim-stuff , and and and… but I can fly and mostly I have fun.
The main question now, related to the thread here (
):
I have been on 2004 since June, as an Insider. I personally have had no problems at all, but Microsoft have issued patches to correct a few things. I can’t see a problem with the update. MSFS hasn’t given me much trouble. I think it crashed once and I turn it on every morning just to pass an hour away. I am 78 and on a voluntary Covid lock down.
Possible you realy need this time a completly reinstall

No,… it seems realy an special issue at your system… I would “lean me far out the window” ( as we say’d here ) as would think, that it should works fine in almost cases. ( I’am sure is not helpfull for the x prozent where not )
little funny thing, for better feeling:
I flight currenlty in 14.000ft and should go to 20.000ft… I request -6000, because M20R have no fun in 20k… result is: go to 22.000 ( 20-6 = 22)
I can beat that …
I am in a C172. ATC tells me to climb to FL200 !!!
I select request to descend by -8,000ft on menu . ie to 12,000 frt
I say N6722c, request 12000 ft (correct)
ATC responds -8,000ft denied
Obviously, I would be descending to Underground !!!
=== I think this only started to happen since the last Update
yes,… but he “denied” that you fly to the hell
…
I have same , just happen if you again request a descend.
And I noticed this issue already in former patch… but is now more and more often… long IFR flights are not realy possible, I should go to 250FL with little airplane which is not able to handle iceing conditions…
This is the crazy-making thing about all of this: what works perfectly for some yields CTD events for others.
It’s my opinion that it all boils down to drivers and bits of code ancillary to the OS, specific to hardware, on a given system. Background processes enter in to this equation too. I have come to believe that even something as obscure as the die iteration used on memory sticks can be a factor.
There are simply too many variables in the PC universe… it would be sweet to get “official” specifications - right down to drivers - for a “known good” build from Asobo.

Any reason why that couldn’t be offered up?
developing becomes faster and faster… new development methods, like the “agile development” should fix a the problem, that pieces of software can faster delivered - just smaller pieces like the topics in the wishlist of MSFS. These new methods becomes defact-standart in last years in the big-companies ( employess can with this also be more ‘exploited’ ). At point of a manager , and seemingly also from point of end-users (we), this methods are a paradise, but nobody does realy see the disadvantage… Quick Work just mean less time to harden the code / check dependencies / etc : main goal is “Feature X is delivered”. But we realy come bit of-topic with such “philosophical” discussions ![]()
Install Windows 2004 / Check and Update all Drivers and most peoples should not have an issue.
My Personal Opinion - (I should probably keep it to myself, but you asked)
Reason… Asobo is a Fantasy GAME company, trying to make a highly Technical App that is a Real World simulation.
They might be great at making FANTASY Games, and yes, the Game Like Graphics are Fantastic (maybe thanks to it being sub-contracted out - good move), but
However, the UI is typical “Kiddie” game style and apart from what got copied over directly from FSX, they do not seem to have a clue about Aviation , Aeronautical Enginnering or ATC.
Any why would anyone, including Microsoft, expect them to when they accepted the project.
It’s not ASOBO fault … they are a great “Fantasy Game” developer, but a highly technical Real World simulation, is not something they have done before, nor do they seem to be currently equipped at the moment to do it.
I also cannot fault Asobo, for jumping at the chance to taken on such a potentially profitable project, something that would greatly impact the future of their private company.
Maybe they will get there, if they do the right things, but since the Release, it looks like it is going to be a long, difficult l road, for both them and those that have purchased MSFS.
I wish ASOBO every success, and hope they end up making a better job of MSFS, than Microsoft did with “Microsoft Flight”
Back on Topic.
Reverted back to 1909 last night & re-installed MSFS.
Finally got all the W10 reversion issues sorted, and a stable, W10 install.
back to where I was a week ago.
No CTD
High Framerate (for my moderate setup, hitting target of 30 FPS, with only an occasional "
Red Flash in the Dev Mode rate rate display.
And back to the FPS not dropping off during the flight, even over several hours.
Lot of time spent, I am WAY over my time Budget this month for MSFS, but its been “Educational” … and you cannot buy that much education these days for a mere $60 !!

RL: Anyone taking up a C150 or C172 this weekend ?
Ideally Steam Gauges, and can shoot a short 5 minute cell phone video.
Please PM me
I believe the comment above hit the nail on the head. Varied amount/quality/type of hardware in the millions of PC trying to run this game. I know for fact, some “standard hardware, i.e., memory, SSD units, capacitors, resistors, etc.” don’t meet severe testing. Everyone, it’s always about the money, and with some countries flooding the market with substandard products. Add in the world wide economic situation because of the pandemic, and many of us are trying to squeak buy. So many are “making do” with hardware they got, please no disparaging intended, I totally understand, getting buy, have done it lots of times. So, what “might be bug” in their PC, is not a problem in My PC. So, it’s being reported, possibly investigated, found to not have merit, and they move on. Bad memory, or bad thermal grease, or bad contact on capacitor, or myriad of other issues to down deep to find. Oh, used to build PC’s, and was very expensive because only got certified hardware from excellent companies, and I bench tested each machine for 7 days, under load to make sure it was good. Has quality of hardware improved, I think if the right country of origin is selected yes. If the wrong country is selected, no.
FWIW-On Windows Insider Release Program, had 20H2 for weeks, no issues in windows running MSFS. I will tell you though, many aftermarket antimalware/firewall packages, will mess up this simulator, I have had issues with mine on that alone since MSFS was released. Finally I just uninstalled the package and now no loading/downloading/CTD’s period. One fellow said to turn of AI and Live Traffic, and I did, no change, turned it back on, but it’s CPU/GPU intensive if in busy part of world, so it may have impact to you. My big grip is the planes just don’t fly good, and the ATC/ILS/AP systems are not working correctly. I quit using for the most part. The IconA5 though fly’s real nice.
Hi all, I have MSI TITAN GT76 DT9SG and i reach 40-45 fps in 4K ultra mode with 1909.
I lose (same driver configuration) fps with windows 20h2 october: 28-32 fps 4K ultra mode.
Thanks – that’s good to know … so is there a way to reliable stop windows from updating to 20h2 ??
Also, is Asobo now developing and “QC TESTING” with 1909 or 20h2 ???
Sorry but I don’t know. Other games as Cyberpunk, AC Valhalla, are more fluid with 20h2. I think that the problem is directx11…
Ok, so when MSFS goes Dx12, then might be a good time to update to 20h2
Yes…I think
