Apparently, MS had already released the bit of 24H2 that unleashes the full potential of AMD CPUs, with KB5041587, so if you already had that installed, before moving to 24H2, you might have already reaped its benefits.
Ok. Thanks. I will try that.
Thank you for the reminder. In my case, the Microsoft issue related to performance drops on AMD processors didn’t affect me, as I’ve always used the “hidden administrator account.”
Issue you mentioned impacted other system accounts. I explained this in another topic.
Enable Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) in Windows 10 & 11 Home Edition - MajorGeeks
A lot of pearl-clutching in this thread. I’ve been running 24H2 since the first preview versions and had zero sim problems with it (2D only, no VR).
The ONLY problem I have is with Lossless Scaling and DX12 (Lossless Scaling crashes and can’t be force-quit; requires a PC reboot). DX11 is fine.

Had a forced update last night to come in this morning to no network so can’t connect to wifi
A bit off point, but has anyone else noticed the Microsoft store switching back and forth between having and not having a “downloads” button in the lower left? (screenshots below) I check the store as part of my normal check for updates and a few months back this changed from the “library” button to the “downloads” button. Then I noticed it appears and disappears quite regularly.
I had the preview 24H2 and got the official update a few days ago, hasn’t changed anything on mine for the worse, everything’s happy and running fine.
In the Microsoft Store app “downloads” button seems to appear when there are several updates available for download or if we haven’t checked for updates in a while. If I’m wrong, please feel free to correct me.
WD ssd users, just a heads up
edit: New firmware released WD releases new firmware to fix Windows 11 24H2 blue screens of death on some SSD - Neowin
I don’t think it’s that. I checked yesterday and again today. The downloads button was there both days (no blue dot to indicate an update ready) and when I clicked on it and then the “get updates” button on the subsequent page, no new updates were found.
I guess the 850x black isn’t affected
That is correct.
The DRAM module is labeled D9XPG, a 16Gb DDR4 module from Micron with 16-bit width. This is 2GB of memory and meets the ideal ratio of DRAM to NAND for the 2TB test sample.
I’ve noticed that the Microsoft Store app has been trying to update eight applications for the past three days, and it still hasn’t done it …
Only issue i had after upgrading to 24H2, was that my web pages appeared to load slowly for some reason. Did some scrathing around my system and found that Windows was indicating that i was running WPA2 encryption when i set the encrytption to run WPA3. Under Wireless Network Properties “Security Type” the system indicated WPA3, so just re-clicked on the dropdown and re-selected WPA3. Rebooted the PC and windows now indicated that i was now running WPA3. For some reason the update to 24H2 must have corrupted the setting.
long story short, ever since my system is running great again.
Regards
Microsoft published Compability Holds on several systems to prevent them from upgrading to 24H2, and warned from manually doing so. its safe only if it is available through windows update. otherwise, who dont listen to microsoft, will have a lots of bluescreens.
- who have 12gen cpu and above and is a gamer: will have bluescreens in some online games.
- who dont have drivers up to date, will have bluescreens.
- who have laptops with fingerprint sensors, will have to wait until new drivers are available for 24h2, there isnt any yet.
- who have software that changes anything in the desktop background, needs to unistall for the update to showup in windows update, because there is a hold in those softwares.
- who have WD SSD that have no dedicated cache, and uses cache from the system, will have dangerous bluescreens. the only way is either to replace the ssd, or tweeking registery by googling it, as the workarounds have been discovered by experts.
other than these officially confirmed scenarios, its safe 100% to upgrade through windows update.
Thanks for this useful list!
Anyway, each days seems to bring a new 24H2 problems users meet, so for me, even if Windows Update will propose it to me, I’ll wait some days/weeks to stay on the safe side
Did you get any errors when you tried updating manually by pushing “Update” on each individual one or if you pressed “Update all”? Sometimes the MS store likes to update the apps in particularly weird times.
I clicked “update all” and the apps were updated. The next day, I received a notification to update the same apps again. Now, I have a “downloads” button available but there are no updates.
