Updated to 24H2 too.
No problems with install from the .iso file.
Can’t say I notice any difference.
The A380 parked at B11 iniBuild’s OMDB (‘test’ location) seemed slightly better on fps.
But the Fenix seemed slightly worse with some main-thread spikes. These spikes were mostly just visible on the graph, as I didn’t notice any spikes/lag in-game.
Also a quick test with the Cows DA42 - no problems there; very smooth.
Tested with and without Navigraph, APL2, BATC traffic injection (drains some fps) etc.
So…Im not sure. Need to try some more. Nothing revolutionary for me. Maybe Msfs2024 can utilize some of the new features better.

I did a clean install of W11 coming from W10, partially because I had a weird VR issue I just couldn’t fix and partially because I was planning to anyway, and the much written about (supposed) performance gains also made it seem attractive.
It’s all running very well EXCEPT that MSFS (in VR) is stuttering a whole lot more than on W10. I went straight to 24H2, so no idea what the stutters would have been like on the previous version of W11.
Anyone also get more stutters going from W10 to W11, and if yes were you able to fix them?
As far as I can tell all my settings (sim, drivers, NCP, settings, OXRTK settings, HAGS off, etc) are the same as before.
Do you experience the same stuttering issue in 2D as well or is it only happening in VR?
Hard to tell if they are the same as in VR but 2D has never run completely smoothly either (although the 24 Alpha did). But I think this may be related to sync rather than performance issues. When setup correctly, VR has always been much smoother than 2D for me for some reason, even though it gets more FPS than VR.
VR, even now, is always locked at 45fps for me at 90hz. So the stutters are either frame timing or sync issues (between 45fps and 90hz) for me. I need to reinstall CapframeX later…
lol. And does the person you sold it to know about the 24H2 update?
I think the phrase caveat emptor is applicable here.
Hello Windows 24H2 users! Has Microsoft resolved the compatibility issue with Western Digital SSDs in your experience? Specifically, the problems affecting models like the WD_BLACK SN770 and WD Blue SN580, which caused BSOD errors? Have the recent firmware updates from Western Digital fixed the problem or are you still encountering crashes? Please share your experiences and any additional steps you had to take.
I have had a WD Black SN770 2TB drive in my system as my main flight sim drive (configured as a single E: drive) since late May. I have been running Windows Insider and now the final Win11 24H2 builds since they were first released over the summer. I don’t recall installing any specific fixes or updates related to these drives, although I do install Windows “Optional” updates, as those tend to include low-level chipset driver updates and fixes. Zero problems here with either the drive or Windows generally.
The update showed on my laptop and I’ve tried installing it, but upon restart it shows an error in Window Update and to try again.
The same issue happened on the second try.
I tried to use the Troubleshooter and it says it found an issue and made a change, but it still fails.
I’ve not seen the update appear on my sim rig PC.

It is better not to update for a while. Keep reading freezes, long lags on games, programs, chrome etc
It seems like not everyone is experiencing this issue, which is great to hear. Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s helpful to know that the problem may not be affecting all users.
This is my setup…and no problem with MSFS2020.

So again I have the same problems with 24h2 now that it was offered to me via windows update as when I tried it as an insider preview.
That is to say that when using msfs my CPU is going crazy. I get random spikes to 100% CPU usage along with extreme stuttering and broken audio. WTH is going on?
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this mess I now find myself in?
My spec is ASUS z390-f gaming MB, I7 9700k, RTX 3060 12gb, 32gb Corsair vengeance RAM @ 3200MT/s. 2xPNY SATA ssd’s and 1xSAMSUNG 980 1TB Nvme drive with msfs on.
I’ve already tried SFC scan and that didn’t bring up any violations with the file system.
I was having no issues with the previous version of Windows 11 home. There were a couple of FS related videos that I saw that spoke to the benefits they experienced as a result of updating. Mainly loading speed decrease.
Three things I did in prep for 2024.
- I updated my bios for the intel chip issues. That went great and took my temps down noticibly with no decrease in frames. Made sure that ran stable for a couple of days.
- Next, I updated to 24H2, which I had to manually go get. No issues and the load times were noticbly shorter. No adverse effects regarding stutters etc.
- Last night, I installed the Nvidia App which is now officially released. I loaded the latest driver from the app (566.14). I selected the Auto Tuning, which took about 15 minutes for it to calculate.
My sim has never run better. Maxed setting and butter smooth at solid 60fps.
My System Specs:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i9-14900KF Processor
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z790-V
Memory: 64GB DDR5-6000MHz
Video Card: GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER - 12GB GDDR6X
Monitor: Acer 32" 1440p
Operating System: Windows 11 Home
Internet: 1GB
Bring on 2024!
So I updated today to 24h2. I use the xbox overlay to monitor. My CPU now shows 30 to 40% usage, vram @ 60%, Ram@60%,frames @60 locked. 2024 is performing and loading great @ high to ultra settings since I updated, but the CPU usage has always been much lower, and Ram/vRam were a little higher around 70%. No changes to any sim settings. What changed in windows to increase CPU and lower Ram/V numbers? I’m not complaining, but the sim seems to perform better after updating, and the numbers stay pretty steady now. 78003d 4070super12gb,32gb,3840x2160

It’s possible that the update process set something, like game mode or HAGS, to a default setting that you hadn’t previously selected.
Alternatively, if you hadn’t updated Windows for quite a while, 24H2 included a performance fix for AMD CPUs. This bit of 24H2, however, had been included in earlier Windows updates, to preclude the need for AMD owners to have to wait for their turn in the 24H2 rollout.

Stay away from 24H2! I was eventually prompted to install it today and I thought they had fixed all the issues. The installation went on for more than an hour but at the end I got a message that Windows was reverting all changes but without any explanation and now I’m back where I started. I think MS has a general problem with QA, be it operating systems or simulators.

If it has been more than 10/12 days since updating your Windows 11 to version 24H2, the option to roll back to the previous version of the system is no longer available. As we know, version 24H2 has several issues on certain hardware configurations, such as stuttering in games, audio glitches, problems on some laptops where it is impossible to change the screen resolution or refresh rate …
Since Microsoft does not provide an option to download Windows 11 version 23H2 on their official website, I decided to help by including a link to an unofficial download page.

I just updated yesterday and I am noticing a marginal but clear performance improvement. So far so good.

I still on 23H2, and 24H2 is not even proposed to me by Windows Updates. I will not force it for sure, let’s wait Microsoft to clean this stuff first!
