Windows 11 24H2 and MSFS: observations, insights, issues and tips

Works just fine been on it for months.

It didn’t pop for me until just recently. I had some C drive cleanup to do, so I just downloaded the installer from MS and did it outside the regular update process. Given the general junkiness and chaos of Windows, I’m puzzled as to why this is taking so long to roll out to users.

This is the version (23H2) I have and am not doing any optional installs.

I appear to be screwed. I didn’t realize 24H2 was installed but then started having random audio-video cutouts and no way to go back now since it’s been over 10d since the update installed. It sometimes kills the flight outright, other times it’s tolerable. I’ve tried everything conceivable to no avail so at this point my only hope is for MS to figure out an update that fixes this. Apparently I’m not completely alone on this. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Sorry to hear. As noted above you gave me the warning and I have avoided the update. Not sure which is worse: waiting for MS to fix Windows or waiting for MS to fix MSFS 2024.

Just updated a few days ago. I have two 1.5 hour flights in since, and so far I see no difference. I don’t use VR.

Ever since updating a month ago I’ve had really bad freezing and audio freezing. Since updating I have done a complete reinstall of the sim (2020) and still have the same issue. Is it worth waiting for an update from windows or doing a fresh windows install?

Is it in VR ?

Sorry, not sure I understand what you’re asking. I do not use VR.

I’m running Windows 11 with 24H2 and FS2024 doesn’t have any issues that I would attribute to it. Great performance and everything seems to work within the boundaries of the sim’s acknowledged bugs. No sound or stuttering issues.

I can’t speak to FS2020. I haven’t installed it since moving to my new PC 4 weeks ago and my old PC is still on Windows 10.

PC Specs:

Ryzen 7800X3D
RTX 4080 Super 16GB
64 GB Ram
FS2024 installed on a 2 TB M.2 drive.

I’ve made about 20 hours worth of flights in FS2020 in the last week with Win11 24H2 and had zero issues. Flights have included iFly 737MAX, PMDG 737-700, PMDG 777-300ER and PMDG 777F.
