This is also the update that causes Task Manager to not stop when you want to close it.
Do you mean this fix?
- Fixed: Apps and browsers might display partially unresponsive onscreen content when other maximized or full-screen apps are updating in the background.
If uninstalling the update improved your performance, maybe your system was affected by the memory leak issue with this update are experiencing?
Luckily, I haven’t run into any problems after installing KB5067036
intersting. I noticed weird behaviour on scrolling in the webbrowser (chrome) when the sim is running and this sounds a lot like this is causing it….
I use Edge on a daily basis, so maybe that’s why I haven’t noticed this issue.
I don’t think it was a memory leak. I have 24gb of VRAM (15 was in use) and 64gb ram (21 in use). I had main thread available on my 9800x3d and was about 30% utilisation and 4090 was running at 30-40% utilisation. I noticed immediately as I spawned in that panning wasn’t its usual smoothness and I was about 30 frames down on my usual.
Changed a number of settings on the PC back and forth with no improvement. Uninstalled that update and bam, back to normal with about 80-90% GPU utilisation.
Sorry for the duplicate post. I got an upgrade today. Some of my Quick Access links disappeared, not all, just some. It also “restored” a copy of my Desktop, so I had two copies of all my desktop shortcuts. I was flying the Fenix A321, toggled out of VR to snap a screenshot, tried to toggle back into VR, CTD. Went to look at Pictures/Screenshots in Quick Access, got an error telling me the location didn’t exhist.
I did try this and i did give me 10% more FPS. However, i must disable win update because it will download the KB5067036 again very soon. I dont know would i keep this, because im pretty sure there will be hot fix very soon… i hope at least.
Actually, i did now install again the update. I also enabled all the settings from core isolation part (win11). And guess what: i did gain +10% more vs that win11 update uninstalled. So about +20% more vs core isolation settings disabled and win11 fully updated with the broken update enabled.
So you are seeing better performance with core isolation enabled while using the latest windows update? I’m going to have to give that a try.
Yes, really suprising but most msfs kind a stuff this is. I had core isolation settings disabled from last year i think. I just tried and my fps was +20% vs core isolations disabled and in both cases win11 was updated with that update we are talking about.
Thanks! I’ll try tonight to see if I can replicate the same.
My Core Isolation > “Memory Integrity” section was missing and “Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection” was grayed out. Solution is to enable SVM Mode on bios settings (AMD virtualization?). Not sure what it is called for intel systems (Virtualization Technology?)
edit: Here and here
Enable SVM and IOMMU via BIOS settings.
Thanks Tenpatrol. Soon someone will help me to install latest bios also, he is almost here (vacation). Fingers crossed, i hope no more crazy issues. Have a great day.
edit: Advanced > AMD CBS > IOMMU . Found it, thanks.

I am always very cautious when it comes to Windows updates, as they tend to destroy the entire system. MS has a knack for this like no other. Your post about the KB5067036 update has now confirmed once again that I should wait as long as possible with updates.
Agreed. That is the reason I disable Windows update via GPO to prevent automatic updates. Then a few times a year I will perform a manual update but I always have a system state backup available should something go wrong.
If you still wish to receive updates from MS, but are worried about getting a duff one, you can defer your quality updates. Non-domain joined machines can use “gpedit.msc”:
Computer Configuration/Administrator Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update/Manage updates offered by Windows Update/Select when Quality Updates are received
This will ensure you get patches 30 days after they are issued, which would hopefully allow MS time to correct any defects, and issue an updated patch.
Yes that’s the one. I’ve very rarely had any impact from windows updates personally but this one was immediately noticable.
Some info
- “Windows 11 KB5065789 / KB5066835 / KB5070773 / KB5067036 may impact framerates on some system configurations and games”
- “Windows 11 24H2/25H2 KB5065789 and later, some games may incorrectly show ‘unsupported graphics card has been detected’ when launching on GeForce 20 series or later GPUs with driver versions 580.88 and later”
- “Process Lasso, depending on how configured, is contributing to gaming stability issues when aggressive process CPU priority rules and/or CPU affinity rules are applied”
I don’t know what to do, every time i go to 24h2 or 25h2, the audio stutters / crackle noises always appears. And then if i go back to 23h2 its fine and gone. I have a 4090 and a 14900k. Is this the norm or have people figured out how to use 24h2/25h2 and dont have this problem?
