Windows cumulative update might have been an improvement

2021-05 cumulative update for windows 10 version20H2 for x64-based systems (KB5003173)

This is a current update from Windows - I just installed it here to see if it makes a difference. Usually they don’t - or occasionally - they cause a problem. This one might be different…

if you haven’t installed it yet, take a look and check your numbers (if you use FPS or other metrics to track performance) - see if you notice a change

I installed ‘Cumulative update for 21H1’ (not 20H2), KB5003173 last night after which, with no settings change, I resumed my southern France bush trip in VR. Prior to the update I was averaging around 35 FPS so I was surprised and disappointed to see I was only achieving 30-31 FPS after the update.

Too early to be sure that KB5003173 is the reason for the lower FPS but I will be very interested to see if others have a similar experience.

don’t know what that one is - mine is labeled exactly as I posted above 2021-05 for version 20H2

maybe you have a different Windows 10 build ?

Is your machine a laptop?

21H1 is still beta but I am using it as well.

ahh - beta - got it

Though beta, I think 21H1 is now in release preview stage and will come as an update to everyone soon.

and so it goes…
