Windows Updates, and Not WU4 to blame for performance issues?

Take a look at this video. The gist is that some Windows updates are more to blame for performance problems following WU4 than was WU4, and that a just released patch seems to offer some relief.

I don’t know if I buy it or not, nor was I really affected by post WU4 performance problems, so a fix might not help me either, but I did recently join the windows insider program, and while it got me upgraded software, it has not helped my performance. If anything, with the new insider version of OXR, even though it’s got a higher number, I have to manually set the render scale, which I did not prior to joining the insider program. Makes me wonder if I should undo that choice, because I’ve got nothing to lose, and potentially something to gain.

As we’ve learned from Nvidia drivers, newer is not always better.

Thoughts?

Hey Kev,

Like you, I never felt I suffered from degradation, but I’ve updated everything the other day and found my stability increased in highly demanding situations - e.g. TBM with perf mod, latest WT G3000 mod with navigraph integration, or the FWB A320, at hand crafted airports, settings ultra. I’m quite new to flying the A320, and the recent navigraph G3000 update has been seen to affect performance.

So I wonder if people who were already at the “edge of the envelope”, and found that their performance has been knocked back so had to lower their settings, will now see some gains and enable them to push things again after this windows update?

Just my speculation really!
