I only had Win 10 Build 1903 and read that I needed at least 1909. As 1909 is no longer downloadable I updated to Build 2004. Now I cannot install Premium Deluxe that I have paid for. Rolling back to 1903 is obviously not an option. First query is there another work around? Secondly if I install the basic version will I be able to upgrade later when this build 2004 bug has been solved? Thank you Dan

This was a change done to MSFS and not a Windows version.
You need to go into the Content Manager to download additional content, including challenges, airports, aircraft and Japan Update.

Thank you, I did search this in the Zendesk (or whatever it is called) and your solution has not been shown. Maybe “Zen” is looking at this forum and could update the FAQ’s. So if i understand properly I have to download and install the basic program and start it and then install the rest thru Content Manager? Will this then effectively give me all the content of Premium Deluxe? Thank you Dan
Yes, after installing MSFS, go to the Content Manager. Then download your Deluxe and Premium versions. There will also be other updates there as well.

Yea the information is here, just listed under the “known issues” heading at the top of this page. Some things seem to be scattered between the Zendesk FAQ, Known Issues, and/or buried under numerous thread titles here in the forum.

Slightly different issue but is related to this 2004 problem and required me to format the H drive on which I had installed. Why you ask, I ask myself the same, anyway when I tried to download a fresh installation from the store it errored with “ms-resource AppName can’t open because a device cannot be found”. I checked my Store settings and my desktop was there. I eventullay contacted Microsoft Technician and gave them remote access (I knew 100% that it was genuine Microsoft) she checked my system, OS evrything and still could not get it to download from the store. After 90 minutes we then decided to try tge XBox site (you know, that green thing that starts with Windows) and lo and behold the installer downloaded. Has anybody elde had trouble with the store installer download as opposed to using XBox site?
I was running Win10 Pro vers. 2004 when I first installed MSFS. I didn’t have to do anything extra to get my Premium Deluxe add-ons - they installed with the rest of the MSFS packages in the big “Update.” (I pre-ordered thru the Microsoft Store and had a game stub on my computer for several weeks). I am since running Win10 Pro 20H2 and have kept updating MSFS, now to the 1.9.5 update, and have not noticed any content problems but then I only typically fly GA planes at a few points around the U.S., have flown part of the Japan Tour, and done most tutorials but that’s about it. I installed to a non-system drive.
Funny how many people with Win 10 version 2004 have had no problems and yet for some of us the problem is reported as a known issue in the Zendesk. Danged computers!!!
Same problem .I are running Win 10 2004 and it wont install Deluxe upgrade or Premium Deluxe .Keeps telling me does not work on this device . What it does install only gives me 2 aircraft

Did you originally buy the Premium Deluxe from the MS Store? Or was it a Game Pass upgrade?

This is common. You have to Upgrade via the Content Manager. You have to download the base package first. You will actually download a 1GB (approx) installer which if memory serves me right you can choose where to install your full program. The install will then run and ask you to confirm where you want the full program to go, It will then download approx 80GB of data. Once that has finished you then start the Base Package flight simulation. I THINK YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE ALL THIS IF YOY HAVE THE PROGRAM RUNNING? It takes a while and there is little to no indication that the program is running until you get a black screen with a little turning circle at bottom right. Once started you then go to Content Manager and you should see about 119 files that show they are in your Library (at the store). Just tick the top little square which will tick all the files and then download. This will be about 24GB and voila you will have the whole package that you have paid for. There may be little variations in the process as I have described (my memory is not as good as it used to be) but I thiunk you will get the idea. It really is a terrible process for PC’s. Hope this helps in some way.
This is an odd problem that’s not shared by everyone. I’m running 2004 and upgraded to Premium Deluxe. It runs without issue. There seem to be a lot of these strange issues that only seem to affect a subset of users, but not others.
As you say you have to upgrade after installing the base package and this is not stated anywhere until you come to this forum. This is what confused those of us who experienced this 2004 problem. Really it is a terrible way to do things. When you buy a program it should automatically install what has been advertised as one program. It should first download a normal Windows type installer with a Readme file that covers the procedure.
I didn’t have a choice. I started with the basic edition since launch. Last week, I bought the Premium Deluxe Bundle from the marketplace. I did encounter an issue with activating it due to a CTD of the game during the transaction, but that was unrelated to the 2004 issue people are describing.
Yes I did buy the premium Deluxe version from the MS Store . $189 NZ dollars . Very confusing way of doing things . I had it installed but not all of the aircraft were there ,so like a fool I uninstalled it and reinstalled it now
only two aircraft and no japan . I’m Reinstalling it again now so will have a play around with what you guys have said
This content change happened last patch. They now give the option of downloading individual content. For example, I didn’t need the lessons, so I didn’t download those.
I actually remember you from the Alphas. You posted about weather (in NZ) and trees! 
Yep It’s me I decided to hold off getting this for a few updates . But now couldn’t resist jumping in . Been a bit busy with other things .
