Took off from SFO this morning, flying across the hills west toward the city. It’s always breezy when I cross these hills in my C-152. But today, I was in for an awakening. Plane pitched steeply up, nearly stalled, and when I regained stability, it started pitching down, and really kept it interesting all the way into the city.
Agree. Flew into Santa Rosa this morning (KSTS) on the east side of the Class B airspace. At one point I had a 42 knot headwind, and it was as bumpy and bouncy as I ever remember. Probably should have looked at the PIREPs before I left!
Update: This a.m. (Jan. 22) I took off from Meigs in Chicago, very rocky takeoff, flew into heavy clouds and once again had to really work with extreme winds/turbulence that hammered the c-152, up and down, left to right. Very glad to see real-weather injecting winds into the sim!
