I use the Winwing throttle plugged into the USB and the TM Throttle quadrant and the rudder pedals into other USB ports.
Perfect. Do you like it? Better than the Thrustmaster sidestick? Winwing has the Ursa marked down to $100 Canadian taxes and shipping included I think. Hard to do better than that.
Yes, Itâs a good joystick. The only issue I have is that the âpseudoâ FFB - joystick vibrations, controlled by the Winwing software SimAppPro hasnât caught up with the Ursa Minor product and gives limited options.
The airline version has the joystick hat hidden behind a cover, when removed the hat is very low against the recess edge and sometimes difficult to reach.
Is this product worth having to replace my TCA Joystick?
Not sure. The functionality seems very similar, probably slightly more buttons. The Winwing build quality feels very good.
Hello LeftosGIAA,
It seems from the above that you know how to get the Winwing Ursa Minor to work in MSFS (I am using 2020).
But itâs a mystery to me. There is no clear documentation that I can find anywhere. I have plugged my stick into the PC, run SimAppPro , it sees the stick and I calibrated it. But I have no idea where to go from there. Even though I did all that, if I start the game and spawn a plane, the joystick movements have no effect. If I go to Options > Controllers (in the game), the stick is recognized, but the capabilty to bind kyes etc to functions is not offered. In SimAppPro I go to the Key Binding tab. The stick appears and so does MSFS 2020, but when I select them and click âCreate from Gameâ, it says âWARNING! CAN NOT FIND BINDING FILE INFO FROM THE GAME CONFIG FOLDER. 1. Set and save the current deviceâs key information in the game. 2. Please check in SIMAPP PRO SETTING of the game config folder.â
I can guess what that means but I am by no means sure. I went to Settings in SimAppPro and under MSFS 2020 Configuration > MSFS2020 Steam, for User Data Path I selected âC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdataâ, for Aircraft Model Path - âC:\Users\m_g_g\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steamâ and for Third-Party Aircraft model Path, âC:\Users\m_g_g\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Communityâ.
But that does not appear to help.
I have downloaded the WinWing default key binding file and when I try to run it, I get the same warning as above: âWARNING! CAN NOT FIND BINDING FILE INFO FROM THE GAME CONFIG FOLDER. 1. Set and save the current deviceâs key information in the game. 2. Please check in SIMAPP PRO SETTING of the game config folder.â
I have looked high and low for a proper, well-written, comprehensive procedure as to how to go about configuring this device, and - nothing! The odd âtutorialsâ that I have found do not address this issue.
I am at my witsâ end. Having dropped more than 130 bucks on this device, I am so frustrated I would just like to return it, but Amazon are not accepting returns.
Could you help me, please? You appear to have successfully configured your device. Could you write a detailed procedure? Do you know where one exists?
Hi!
I remember I had a similar issue but cant recall exactly how I solved it.
I can share the setttings I have now and work perfectly.
Your settings appear to be alright.
I think I had to create a profile for the joystick in the sim by binding some keys and only after the simapp was able to identify the âbinding fileâ.
And I had trouble for the sim to recognize the axis but downloading the profile in the simapp solved that issue.
Its a great joystick with the worst software I have ever seen.
And yes itâs working great in msfs 2024, including the basic vibration functions.
In 2024 I didnât have to download any profile for simapp and had no problems assigning keys and axis in the sim.
Hope this helps.
I gave up on SimAppPro entirely (and with that, unfortunately, all vibration features of it). Iâve been using the native MSFS controls settings screens and spad.next to configure my controllers, including the Ursa Minor.
Thanks for your input.
In the end, I got hold of their tech support, apparently in China. I think several individuals got on the chat. The conversation was very sparse but they sent me a document that purports to show how to get the joystick to work with MSFS. But it appears to be a beta - itâs really badly written, with no concept explanations and missing steps in the procedures (I know about this stuff, I am a technical writer by profession). Anyway, with the document, and their help, I did actually get the joystick to work. And it does appear to be very good.
The SimAppPro software still pops up every time I start my PC and - hereâs something weird - if I let it run, it disables my mouse(!) But I donât need it now so I can get around that.
Anyway, thanks again!
I bought MSFS2024 recently and i have tried to enable vibration for C172.
But, i canât see this plane in the list, just a few ones
I have checked all settingsâŠ
Have you got any idea ?
Thanks a lot.
Hi.
My aircraft list looks exactly like yours too. Inibuilds planes and the 3rd party.
I guess it has something to do with the planes being streamed. But some are recognized so I donât know.
I donât use the advanced setting. Switching to the Default setting gives you vibrations for all the planes even tough itâs just simple ones I think like touch down and speedbrake.
Ironically, those Airbus aircraft with the fly by wire system do not have any force feedback to the sidestick from the control surfaces.
They do have increased loading at the extremes of travel, and a stick shaker that warns the pilot if their inputs are outside the normal flight control envelope.
As a VKB Gladiator owner, I do however have very negative personal feelings about the Ursa Minor, so it might just be me.
Thanks for the tip. I will try with defaults settings.
I just tried and it not works ![]()
I have this stick since 4 days and I love it. Very well made and very precise steering. My landings are much better than with the Thrustmaster PCA.
I always spent a lot of time without success.
After long research I might found the correct directories for planes and 3rd market. But SIAPP Pro is not accepting the installation directory.
Maybe the root cause is the cloud based profile of MSFS2024âŠ
I canât get it running anyway. Didnât see any airplane - how could you go to this success?
I like the feel of this joystick, but like many others have failed to get any meaningful FFB results.
I feel the support for this product hasnât matured and we may just have to wait.
Apparently the hat switch cover is there for a sim pilot or First Officer to rest their thumb on. It is present on the real Airbus sidesticks (of course, there is no hat switch underneath on the real deal) so the cover can be used to more realistically represent the Airbus stick.
Iâve just taken delivery of a WinWing URSA Minor airline stick although Iâm not into large commercial airliners - at least, no so far. I wanted a reasonably priced and simple stick for flying aircraft in MSFS 2024 that actually use a joystick in the real world. I have an Alpha yoke for others.
Havenât figured out how to get the haptic feedback feature working yet using WinWingâs SimApp Pro. Stick itself is terrific and I will be writing a review on Amazon.ca after further testing.
PathlessSplash0
Holy moly YEAH!!!
With the help of MS support I got very helpful answers to find the correct directories where the key binding files are stored and now everything is working well with MSFS2024 and my WinWing URSA Minor Joystick -itâs working so nice now⊠![]()
