I use MSFS2020 almost entirely in VR, but I have been happy using Mouse, Joystick and keyboard and see no point using the VR controllers.
Actually it is quite disturbing to get menu boxes appearing, asking me about if I want the Default VR Controller assignments or customise them, as well as getting a new box, if using a 3rd party aircraft, telling me that VR controllers are not supported for that particular aircraft.
So Asobo please add the option to disable VR controllers.
I can use VR with mouse interface simply by not activating the controllers. Of course, the menu is still INOP…
I don’t think we need an extra option to turn the controllers off. Just don’t turn them on.
I too don’t want to use the controllers… but I had actually forgotten this was to be implemented. I haven’t noticed any pop ups, messages or even spotted the controllers in the settings. I have a reverb G2 if it makes any difference.
At the moment though I’m having other issues since the update… like the mouse not working properly as soon as I go into VR…and the sim jamming up or CTD when in VR or trying to exit VR
I too do not want to use the controllers in the sim, but I do use them occasionally for SteamVR processes.
When I turn a controller on, MSFS wants to add a new device and stalls the game.
Please fix this, so that we can disable the controllers in game.
