WMR motion smoothing?

I bought the game off the MS store recently. Played around with the settings and all pretty smooth.
Issue as always had really with flight sims is the ghosting on building etc when turning, particularly when taxiing

Suddenly dawned on me last night to turn on motion smoothing and steams version of asw, whatever they use. I always have it forced turned off

Then I realised this game doesn’t use steamVR like everything else, direct through WMR.

So question is, does WMR have any motion smoothing options, 45fps lock etc? If not should I/can I run i through steamVR?

Thanks

Thanks

Install OpenXR Dev.Tools and set the Motion Reprojection to ON.
All You need is stable 30fps which is not that easy to achieve depends on your rig/aircraft/location/resolution/perf.settings

Brilliant thanks alot, I’ll do that.

To help with performance optimization, check the “Display frame timing overlay” box in the Advanced Settings section above. It will show your framerate in your VR view and it also shows you whether it’s doubling or tripling your frames (2X or 3X) to give you a smooth 90 FPS in VR.

With my GTX1080+ReverbG2 and OXR render at 60% and MSFS render at 60%, I’ll get +30 FPS with OXR smoothing using 3X to output 90 FPS to the G2 (small airport scenery).

Once you’re done tweaking your settings, uncheck the overlay box.

Good points, anyway after many weeks of chasing fps, I realized that I’m perfectly fine with 25 or even lower as long as it feels good with no stutters.
I don’t even use the motion reprojection now for anything except the aerobatic flying which forces me to lower my resolution to OXR 50%/ MSFS 100%.
Normally it’s OXR 90% / MSFS 100% and that gives me 23-27 fps on the ground (A320, busy areas) but the G2 shines at that resolution! Up in the air it goes up to 30+ with mix of low/medium settings and HQ clouds.
I’m heavily GPU bonded now (red graph) and I can clearly see that I need more VRAM…Anyway I’m happy that I bought my 3070 end of last year as the prices since then almost doubled here in PL which is ridiculous.

457.30
5600x/32GB/RTX3070

Downloaded it and selected motion reprojection, cant tell any different to be honest.
Need to do the overlay and see what my fps is sitting around

In flight its fine really, is taxiing on the ground and turning quick thats the problem. Really bad stuttering or ghosting of the buildings, trees etc.

Grown used to putting up with that to be fair had in on xplane, p3d as well.

Give us your PC specs and graphic settings.
Turn on Developer Mode and check you FPS - be sure it’s stays at 30.
If it goes below 30, you’ll have to lower your res/settings.

Savage Carbon over Sedona airport with Motion Reprojection ON.
In this case 30fps feels like 90 - you should easily tell the difference
(OXR50/MSFS 100%) 2236x2192

Pc spec are
I7 9700k @ 5ghz
1080ti - awaiting as many for a 3080

Should it be smooth even when turning quickly on the ground if set up properly then?
So used to it from having the shutter when turning on fsx, xplane i think took it as just a given when in VR!

Yes, it should feel smooth no matter if you are on the ground or doing dynamic turns up in the sky. The only d rawback is slight loss of sharpness and reprojection artifacts (propeller, wings edges etc) but it’s not a big issue imo.
Start simple (Zlin, Cessna 152 steam gauge),easy location, lower your resolution, set low/medium settings and check your FPS. If it’s still choppy on the ground, there must be something wrong with your system (gpu driver).
Your 5Ghz/1080Ti should give you enough power to make it work.

Try OXR 60%, MSFS 60% and Weather = CLEAR SKIES

I need my clouds!!, and unfortunately the low settings pretty bad so thats a bit of a hog.

I have motion and the turbulence through the clouds is brilliant! Would feel a bit dead without them now

Think I have it 80 in OXR and 60 in msfs. Any lower than 60 in msfs really kills the quality.

I’ll try lowering the OXR as well see if that helps even more

I have since OP watched my fps and dropped some settings and yes much much better on the ground and low altitudes doing so thank you

I agree but we need better than our GTX1080 cards which is min requirement for MSFS VR.
