Working FSX Conversions

I would like to see a running list of currently successful FSX aircraft conversions posted here. That is, FSX aircraft that have been ported over and are working in 1.2.22.0.

I fly only aircraft from the following eras, and enjoy making videos about them.

  • Vintage: Before 1920
  • Antique: 1920-1940
  • Golden Age: 1925-1935
  • WWII: 1940-1945
  • Classic: 1945-1955
    Dates approximate

In FSX there were a plethora of these kinds of planes, but in MSFS they are few and far between. I’ve spent many hours trying to port over FSX aircraft using a variety of methods, without success. This makes be wonder if there are ANY FSX planes usable in MSFS. If there are, and if somebody could keep a running list of them, that would be great. I understand that initially several FSX conversions DID work in MSFS, but with each new release more and more of them have broken. This is sad because one of the initial selling points of MSFS was that FSX aicraft could be ported over.

Ants free Tiger Moth converts with working gauges…

C47 Skytrain by Jahns converts well with working gauges…

In all honesty… none. Every FSX portover aircraft sufferers from cockpits that are no longer interactive (mouse click and drag function rendered unusable). All portovers are matte due to the fact that MSFS doesn’t render their models specular properties.

This isn’t true. One particular conversion works well as if it were native MSFS.
Not sure who converted it but they’ve done an excellent job.
Can’t share the particular small bizjet here because of permission rights.

You sure that the model is actually a fsx sdk compiled mdl file and hasn’t been converted to gltf format?

=FYI=

I’ve tried every FSX conversion/port I can get my hands on from multiple websites and lots of planes (sometimes different conversions of the same plane). In the maybe two dozen planes I’ve tried, only one works and that is this Curtiss Robin. I have not been able to find a downloadable version of the DC3. I would really like for one of the Aeronca C3 conversions to work. One of them has a stuck throttle, another has a CTD whenever going to cockpit view. The author of Legacy Importer has basically given up on trying to keep it working. Another issue as I understand it is that even if a plane works, the texture detail is not as good as the same plane was on FSX.

p.s. It goes without saying that I am not downloading FSX planes, I am downloading FSX planes that have been converted/ported (and apparently at one point in time worked in MSFS 2020).

From where does one download these two planes that work in MSFS 2020? Thanks.

Ants Free Tiger Moth I found on Rikooo.com and the C47 is on Sim-outhouse.com

The Tiger Moth on www.rikoooo.com is an FSX version.
On www.sim-outhouse.com I find no C47, C-47, or DC-3.

Can you provide links to the working ported over versions for MSFS? THANKS!

The Phenom? I love that, I use it quite often and wish it would get a proper, official release. A couple of items missing from it (some lights or spoilers from memory) and one bad texture in the cockpit but otherwise it is great.

Yea I’m hoping Carenado will redo the whole FSX catalogue for MSFS.
I don’t feel bad for using the Phenom since I own and bought it for FSX in the first place.

Yea just checked it is indeed gltf format.
