I’ve actually already suggested that they have 2 versions of the plane available in the sim, the “easy” version (call it what you will) that is the existing non-modified CJ4, and the “hard” version, which is the version that has all the WT CJ4 adaptations in their full glory.
As far as performance goes, there’s two things to consider- One is that a more complex plane is always going to require more resources than a less complex one. That’s just the nature of computer applications. The other is how much has (or has not) the modified version been optimized? While I don’t know the answer to my question, certainly somebody does, and I suspect that will be something that MS/Asobo will require be done, at least to an extent, before they’ll publish it as part of the base sim. Personally, I have no issues with non-optimized versions being made available, call it a “beta version” if you like, but the powers that be may not want that, even if it is optional and disclosed up front.
But yes, speaking as an absolute dedicated fan of WT and their mod, I can understand that not everybody wants it, and I fully endorse the idea of the current base version remaining available as a completely separate entity within the sim itself. And there’s no reason they can’t co-exist, so users can choose which one they want on any given flight, either because they just feel like flying the less complex version for whatever reason on a Tuesday, but then come Wednesday they want to go back to their real love which is the fully modded version.
