World map? For what...!?

Hello @N6722C,

I cannot reproduce this. Here is a test flight plan I created just now from the World Map, a flight from Logan to JFK with a few custom waypoints en route. I made the first one, saved it as “Test Flight Plan 1.pln” then clicked Fly to start the flight. I then exited back to the main menu, loaded “Test Flight Plan 1.pln” and re-saved it as “Test Flight Plan 2.pln”. I then opened both files in Notepad and copy/pasted the contents of each into text-compare.com. There were no differences in the files.

Test Flight Plan 1.PLN (2.5 KB)
Test Flight Plan 1.PLN (2.5 KB)

[Edit] It looks like the forum software won’t allow me to upload two identical files even if they have different file names.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

OK, let me be 100% sure, and try again with a 100% empty Community folder, and not in Dev Console. !!!

I did get a difference. 1st save had the airport ID as its ICAO code. ie KADW

The saved & reloaded on had the airport id as its Name.
ie “Joint base Andrews”

as with your Flight Plans, User waypoints do not have “fake” ICAO codes.

It is with flight plans that have user WPS, and they do not have FAKE “ICAO” codes, that the North Pole issue Occurs , but only with NAVIGRAPH (even latest version of the Nav Database)

Once again, importing and exporting through say LNM, adds in those Fake ICAO codes .

So effective, LNM has found a way to export a FP, with those added fake ICAO tags, that works with MSFS and with Navigraph Nav Databases.

BUT, the original FP, created in world map, does work, even with navigraph, with user waypoints,

So the issue IS associated mainly when Navigraph Nav database is installed…

The other complication comes when making a IFR FP, as opposed to a VFR one.

I seldom, if ever make a VFR FP, but was surpised to see how much better adding WPs worked with a VFR FP, as opposed to an IFR FP,

Not suggesting for minute that innovation is all done by the core sim team but it is their job to provide the structure and rules.
Finding ways around a restriction without the buy in of those that control can lead to issues. If all these Devs have the consent then great but if their workarounds stop working because the sim now limits that in some way you’ve got an issue. All for pushing the boundaries but there have to be boundaries.

If you or perhaps the OP are not a native English speaker then I understand but what’s written by the OP seems very clear to me and others that have also pointed this out.

You can wait for the OP to confirm this if you want.
