World Map / Globe for Free Flight looks terrible at normal levels of TLOD

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
When choosing a place to fly, in MSFS 2024 (1.2.8.0), in Free Flight via the World Map / Globe, the graphics fidelity is terrible on normal levels of TLOD (50-200), and need to be maxed out at 300-400 to look expectedly nice.

I did not realize the World map rendering followed TLOD (at least not so aggressively), and was the reason for the terrible look at often used zoom levels. Both ground textures, satellite imagery and buildings look cartoonishly awful (see samples below at various levels of TLOD).

Only by coincidence did I leave TLOD abnormally high, suddenly to discover details were actually available, when I normally thought it looked bad because of some other issues like server throttling, CDN error or other bug.

To me, it makes no sense to be left with this bad a fidelity when choosing where to fly. I understand 2024 is now live rendering the World Map, to allow the live transition zoom to the starting location, which is nice enough, but certainly not at the expense of a terrible(!) look when choosing where to fly.

Asobo, as FPS, when using the World Map, are not as critical as when flying, can you choose a much higher TLOD on World Map, than what is set for flying, or scale it up by a factor, to make the experience better?

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Always

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Choose Free Flight
  2. Zoom in to pick a spot to fly from
  3. Notice how terrible graphics look at normal levels of TLD and only really look nice at TLD maxed out at 300-400 both for ground textures / satellite images and buildings.

YOUR SETTINGS

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
No. Seen during normal mode, and when using FPS monitor in Developer Mode.

[PC Only] Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version:
AMD RX 6800 XT, 24.12.1

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?
7800X3D, 32 GB RAM, NVMe, 1 gigabit internet, Windows 11

Example from around Copenhagen, Denmark. Click on first image to enlarge, and scroll to next/previous TLD level with arrows. These at Texture Resolution set to Medium in case it matters (forced to, to limit effect of run-away VRAM issues in 2024).

It also affects how airport selection and surroundings look, so textures look terrible unless extreme TLOD is set. Bad, as it’s nice to see airport ground textures, markings, gate numbers, taxi lines etc to enjoy the high fidelity that should be available.
