World map - multiplayer aircraft not showing

I have to disagree. I have live traffic turned off. When I point to the green aircraft on the world map, they show gamer tags and if I spawn to that airport I can see them flying above or landing.

I have to admit, the multiplayer traffic (or lack therof) is one of the most frustrating parts of MSFS 2024.

Ok, so was wrong in my previous statement. But the icon should be pink and not green for multiplayers.

The color might be incorrect, but on the rare occasions when I can get multiplayer working it is great
today I had about 30 minutes of good multiplayer visibility, and since then I have spent over an hour trying (restart MSFS, reboot PC, exit Free Flight, change server, etc.) with no multiplayer.

I would say your issue is the same than the one I mentioned: World map - multiplayer aircraft not showing. Don’t you think so ?

I am not sure I would call it “the same” but agree it is related. My additional findings this morning indicated the issues was directly caused to using the Aircraft Configuration option. Unfortunately, time did not permit me to generate the necessary screen shots to provide the further details.

This morning I could fix the issue by returning to the main menu and re-entering Free Flight - multiplayer aircraft would appear almost immediately.

Further comment regarding the Multiplayer Servers selection box - I have noticed there are times the selection is unable to be scrolled to the left. Most often it stops at South-East Asia, but sometimes other values. It can be scrolled to the right.

The only way I can see multiplayers on the world map is to spawn at an airport with multiplayers, then going back to the world map. Then I can see green (incorret) aircraft cons.

Wow
that is a very interesting concept. Blindly spawn at an airport which might have multiplayer flyers and then when you return to the world map the icons will be shown.

The world map showed no multiplayer icons, so I randomly picked KMIA (Miami International), noticed multiplayer tags nearby, then ended my flight which returned to the world map with multiplayer aircraft appeared.

By the way, I then selected the listed aircraft and the multiplayer traffic disappeared. I went back to the main menu and restarted Free Flight expecting the multiplayer traffic to reappear, but it did not. Tonight, it seems the only way to get the multiplayer traffic to show was to restart a flight at an airport.

I don’t recall ever doing that before.

So, I picked an airport in north Florida, and when I returned to the world map it showed me multiplayer traffic near that airport, but nothing near Miami which I had seen a few minutes earlier.

Spawning at an airport in the vicinity of Miami (even 20 NM away) will then show multiplayer aircraft in that area. Scrolling the world map to New York City shows no multiplayer aircraft. I don’t think I have ever experienced this before.

I have been heavily involved in beta testing and submitting comments about issues as I find them. I have done my due diligence by reporting the issue and performing additional troubleshooting. Hopefully this can be resolved soon.

Multiplayer (green) traffic only appear when spawned in and returned to world map. Exiting world map and returning always makes green planes vanish. It’s always been this way.

My buddy and I were on this evening, matching settings, server, etc to a T. I saw his gamer tag in the world map, in green, then I would spawn into the airport 2 parking spots down and couldn’t see him. We messed with so much stuff. We were on USA West. The only thing we didn’t try was another server. Up until this point, I could always see multiplayer aircraft. However, I was always on East, because I thought West was still missing in 24. Server issue?

Just tried again. West US
No map traffic at LAX. Couldn’t even spawn in. Just the loading circle, loading for days. East US
Players on the map
Was able to load in and saw multiplayer. Did not mess with configuring the aircraft. Unsure this is related to the OP’s issue.

For me, when multiplayer works it has been very enjoyable. The other 90% of the time it is useless.

1Gbps fiber internet, excellent download and upload speeds.

I decided to try again, and this time multiplayer aircraft appeared as soon as I selected Free Flight and zoomed in on the world map. Aircraft are visible throughout the map.

Selecting a different aircraft caused the multiplayer traffic to disappear.

Returning to the menu and re-selecting Free Flight caused them to reappear.

For some reason my Xbox screen capture button stopped working so the last two images are from the Snipping Tool.

Go ahead and merge this with the other thread
hopefully it will get tagged as “Bug Logged”.

This evening I have no multiplayer aircraft showing on the world map.

Thank you Asobo team for marking this Bug-Logged.

Even after the latest update, multiplayer traffic still doesn’t appear on the map, while on the tablet it is visible, but not completely. AI traffic is practically nonexistent, whereas real-time traffic can be seen. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 does not seem to have good online servers, and communication between services is poor. In Microsoft Flight Simulator I could previously add an online multiplayer friend from the interface — there was an option in the upper-right corner — but now in the 2024 version it is no longer possible to add an online friend, and I can’t find that option anymore.

Another issue in MSFS2024: multiplayer aircraft are displayed in GREEN, which blends in with the GREEN color of the map underneath. In professional navigation systems, the colors usually used for traffic are ORANGE, while your own aircraft is typically YELLOW.

I ask the developers to improve and use more visible colors that can be clearly distinguished on the map, because with the current green multiplayer aircraft I cannot properly distinguish them from the surrounding terrain.

This morning I started MSFS 2024, selected Free Flight, and was greeted by a number of multiplayer aircraft on the world map
after a few minutes I noticed none of them were moving and when selecting them found the speed listed as blank. So very odd.

PC, Store, SU 5.1 beta, US East server, looking at Florida.
