World series vs Ingame

I just found this on reddit, I checked the location myself and indeed I get the same look as stated by the OP.
This is the only thing driving me crazy, the game already looks amazing, BUT why are they using different underwater textures in the trailers than in-game?

I know they said that the update changed some underwater textures, but these videos came way after the last update, they should have been recorded with the version we have been using after release.

I DO NOT want to hate, I just want to find out why we cannot get those same textures in-game while they use them for the trailers.

Yeah I flew over that location too hoping to see the underwater textures, was also a little disappointed to still not be able to see them. I don’t understand it either.

I hope this gets fixed soon!

Even MS/Asobo already said they are working on manual updates of water shore textures (because they found that was not feasible to do it automatically world-wide) I think they should not publish any more videos with old - nice water textures. It’s just too much different with current sim state in those places.

It seems to me that they had raised the subject, the Arcachon basin for example in France has been corrected (and certainly elsewhere)
But I agree, we cannot implement it automatically, it is a very heavy task.
It would be necessary to implement the tide times in the weather forecast with an algorithm that manages this …

I understand the task is difficult, but I can’t help but be surprised that the issue has been solved for the trailers but not for the players, there must be a reason why it has not been implemented in-game, it does not seem like a feature that would tank fps.

I agree
