World update 3: UK

I was responding to point 2 of a post a few items up, where he challenged to find an example.

That’s nice, but you can’t expect that from every company, there are good and bad sides to interact with your customers as a dev. They’ll be bombarded with questions/threats in this day and age. And there is most likely a policy that they are not allowed to do so.

You can do better than that, you can buy them!

I do
There are
They are
Not so sure, maybe.

Your kidding this is one of the airports in the update!

And your response means nothing. The fact that you state ā€œBen Supnik the leading Xplane developer who works for Laminar Research engages with the community personallyā€ā€¦ Means what? A phone call? A email to the whiners? What? Or does he keep the community fully up to date with all developments immediately and never delays promised updates to the day? I assume he also has lots of press interactions and publishes detailed roadmap updates on a frequent basis. Just saying.

You asked for an example and I provided it.

End of.

Ahhh.
No. FAIL.

100% agree. I think I’ve doubled my list already this morning. The hyperbole and entitlement are amazing, plus all those jumping on the visuals v features bandwagon. I’m muting the whole thread now…

We’ve paid for updates for the length of the game - that’s the nature of the software as a service model MS have decided to release this under.

And why are you saying I’m claiming this is something new ? Asobo’s communication with the community has been dreadful from the alpha and beta. As with other companies they love to talk about new stuff that will be coming soon but have huge problems engaging with the community when things go wrong.

If you are happy with the state of play then I’m pleased for you. I’m not and so seemingly are others (even the mods here seem unimpressed with the communication from Asobo/MS yesterday).

you were given what you asked for. if that’s not good enough I’m not sure what we can do other than asssume you aren’t acting in good faith

I’ve just ventured outside my house during total lockdown and as far as I can see my part of the UK has not been updated yet. What’s going on Microsoft? I’ve been unable to park my Tesla due to a 100 metre high spike growing out of my driveway. It’s been like this since December! As for the weather? Well, it’s constantly raining with 100% low grey cloud coverage. This hasn’t changed since I purchased MSFS back in September. Get your finger out Microsoft! We were all expecting you to update the UK yesterday but now it has been delayed yet again. Hopefully the wait will be worth it though and as from Tuesday we will have 365 days sunshine, palm trees and an end to driveway spikes and no more bugs like the Tory Government bug that is completely destroying the immersion for us UK users.

Still quietly confident that the UK update will arrive before my Honeycomb Bravo (or death…) but for now, having cleaned my leather jacket and helmet, wiped my goggles, adjusted my truss or g suit, I am off to explore the glorious clouds and majesty of Britain in February. If live weather works…

Be back for the bunfight on Monday.

Going to be developed into an intern campus for illegal immigrants.

No inflatable dingies allowed.

Honestly, if they delayed it, there is a good reason. I think we’d all be complaining more if there were bugs still left in the update.

I am looking forward to this update, as well as Sim Update 3.

I think this is all very realistic. Exactly like watching SpaceX and wondering when the next Starliner will actually launch, with much speculation and very little information before the next launch.

Just thought I would crack on with a flight this morning but unfortunately suffered a CTD.
Perhaps the way forward is to fix known problems before developing further.
Looking forward to Tuesday😊

If you are so bothered with it what are you still doing here? You’re part of the problem you’re complaining about

So, on-topic, where to next. I think my next flight will be to Dinard and then download the free community update of the Channel Islands and go to Jersey of Guernsey and wait there for the UK update.

And don’t forget the free mod from Orbx. Altogether these mods make the Channel Islands a great experience. I used to sail there every summer from Cornwall, brings back many happy memories. I can forgive the rounded terrain for now and hope it becomes improved at some point.

Your point is self-contradictory. You correctly point out that that previous updates have introduced game-breaking bugs, and much of that comes from trying to do too much, too quickly, and not doing thorough in-house testing of updates before release. That typically comes from setting a hard release target ā€œno matter whatā€.

In this case, they obviously found something in the update that would negatively impact the user experience - and it is very possible that that bug, (or bugs) were not apparent until close to the tentative release date of the 11th. Perhaps something that was not apparent until the final installer was prepared and tested. Perhaps a disparity between the way the update affects the Store version of the game vs. the Steam version.

If you want updates to be released on a specific date and time ā€œno matter whatā€, then don’t complain if the update introduces new bugs.

If you want updates to be thoroughly tested and bug free, then don’t complain when an update gets delayed.

What, specifically, is the ā€œoffenseā€ that Asobo has committed for which they need to apologize?
