World update 3: UK

Let’s hope that the UK update fixes Hebden Bridge. It’s just a little insensitive to depict it as flooded. Most of the time it isn’t flooded.

I was there before lockdown and was shocked how high the flood waters came the last time it flooded. In Saltaire where I live, even the government offices above the river bank flooded to 6 feet high.

You live in Saltaire? I used to go there when I was younger (to Shipley Glen) I too am in Bradford :grinning:

White cliffs of dover , Langar Airfield , East Midlands Airport , if there not included I will be slagging you off for years to come on FB.

January 2021

Yup about 800 yards from Salts Mill!

It’s a small world!
I’ll have to fly over that way :grinning:

Yes, sad to see it when it gets flooded. Great little place and busy too, especially when the Vintage Car show is on. Didn’t realise it was depicted as flooded in the sim.

When can we expect a world update in France ?

They may sort it out but it will depend on whether or not the update includes better elevation data and a higher resolution mesh. I suspect you may be disappointed.

It’s a pretty location though so if they don’t sort it out I dont mind having a look at it. I can sort out the river with terraforming and flooding is easily sorted at the same time. It will give me a break from the Lake District which is a truly massive undertaking.

Working A//C before more lulllull updates. None incl payware from MS Store works. Threads here are overpopulated with mods that work a week or two.

Well i guess i go back to P3D V4 untill this expensive invest in MSFS 2020 works. Game is not even in alpha mode.

Didn’t know that you did scenery improvements or that you were enhancing the Lake District.

Looking forward to seeing what you do.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I have been working on it for many weeks now. So far I have done Rydal, Grasmere, Thirlmere, Derwent Water, Bassenthwaite, River Derwent Valley, Crumock, Buttermere, Loweswater, Cogra Moss and I am currently working on Ennerdale. This last one is taking ages because the trees go way beyond the lake up into a valley and are mostly forestry commission land and pine plantations.

I have got rid of flooding on the roads in these areas, thinned out the rivers so they are the correct width, replaced missing trees along river and stream banks, changed tree types to match as best I can with the trees provided, the correct types, i,e deciduous or conifer, terraformed rivers so they look better and have deleted trees on fells which are supposed to be bare in real life.

The idea is that it will look more accurate and we can fly low and slow and see the park looking a lot closer to the way it looks in real life. I am hoping for some good farm buildings in the UK update that will improve things even more, we will have to see what they give us.

That or I have terrible OCD, lol.

This gives you an idea of what I am doing. Large exclude polys initially to suppress all the default autogen trees. Then new polys to force the sim to put a specific type of tree within the poly outline. And this is just repeated laboriously until an area is done.

I live near Goodwood and the airfield needs desperately sorting out. Come on Orbx let’s have it !

I think we will indeed see new architecture models for that part of the world, just as they did for Japan update. Well, hopefully they will I mean if they really want to make it look as real as it gets.

Once the heavy lifting is done with new models the implementation via Blackshark’s magic should go smoothly.

“Should” being the operative word here!

Coming from Germany, I lived for more than 2 years in Runcorn, Cheshire. Very nice people everywhere in the UK. I met a lot of good friends and had the best time of my life over there (except eating Marmite). Good choice, Asobo!
