World update 3: UK

I think they’ve been listening to my keystrokes. I’ve done - Land’s End, Liverpool, Barton, Barra AND repaired the Shetlands.

They said they’re doing Out Skerries which is very strange as there’s nothing there.

I’m looking forward to seeing how these look. I’m sure some will be better but in others I’ve been surprised at how slack their hand crafting has been. There are things I’d always do that they don’t.

I’ve tried and tried (even bought the thing twice) to try and get on with it and haven’t been able to, maybe needs another shot.

Great job, mate! Appreciate the work you’ve put in.

I particularly love the Land’s End → St. Mary’s hop I can do now with 2 modded airports. Just need the Skybus Twin Otter to complete the experience!

And yep, I can totally see Asobo not being able to match the quality of these mods.

I’m proper intrigued.

They seem to do better with the smaller ones. For the bigger ones even if they’ve done a hand crafted job I’d still probably pay for an Orbx one or whatever.

Their idea of wonderful realism often seems to be 500 containers in a row and… not much else.

If the community sites are being monitored to see where people are providing updates first and using that as a sign of demand…

Yes, all the whisky distilleries are going to be accurately modelled. Apparently, that will take up most of the allotted development time for that region.

Farnborough would be great

Brilliant. Would’ve been gutted to have to wait any longer then that. The UK will most likely need at least a few passes over the years however.

A shame & pretty odd that they’ve chosen Barton, Liverpool & St Just airports as they’re some of the best & most popular freeware one’s done already. Was hoping for others but i guess they want people to buy the payware one’s like Gaya’s Stansted & UK2000’s pretty terrible Luton conversion.

I really hope they do London photogrammetry. One of the only major cities in the game that doesn’t have photogrammetry. It’s not as big as LA (just) so there’s no reason why they can’t.

Mainland Europe already have some more detailed cities on France, Italy, Spain and Germany. Uk only have Southampton and a terrible mesh. Hope on the next update, mainland Europe get a real mesh (the Alps looks terrible).

We really need cliffs along the coast - will make a huge difference.

For cities hopefully it’s going to be Bath, York, and Edinburgh - rather than Slough, Basingstoke, and Hull.

Would be nice if they fix Cheddar Gorge too - bit of a mess, just recorded my flight through it: Cheddar Gorge FS2020 - YouTube

Please, please, PLEASE get rid of all the office blocks placed on every farm. That is the biggest problem with the UK right now in my view. Every rural scene is ruined by a cream coloured office block.

Is there anywhere in the world that does have successful cliffs? I’m not sure I’ve seen any yet.

I certainly hope they have better terrain creating tools than are available to us because it’s not possible with what they give you.

Oxford would be nice - the default doesn’t even have taxiways or aprons! And the city . . . I’ve never seen so many medieval office blocks!

And yes, the White Slopes of Dover are hardly iconic. It would be rather like, let’s see… Rushmore hill, or the Grand Valley in the US.

Whatever they put in (it won’t be enough . . . it’s never enough!) I’m really looking forward to it. And just in time for my birthday!

Yes, some areas on Japan and Spain for example, using photogrammetry, the cliffs looks very real (Vigo, Spain, and some of the islands of Japan).

That makes sense. I guess photogrammetry can drop anything into place. The normal terrain seems to be very constrained by something.

Especially since it’s the best part of the UK.

I guarantee ypur version of john lennon will be miles better as it stands, plus theres the elephant…

Aww, thank you.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing it. It’s not often you are directly measured against a corporate behemoth. Or it doesn’t happen on a daily basis to me at least.

Buildings is the big one. They seem to have upped their game with the American airports regarding that, but other aspects of them aren’t really fully nailed.

Looking forward to this, I am lucky that my area is one of the only areas in the UK that had photometric data from the start, so not sure it there will be any changes in my local spot (EGHI) but would be great if the airport had a bit of attention.
I bet Stonehenge will be added as a landmark, I already added it but the update might look better.

might be interested in this.
