World Update II: USA incoming

For X Plane only about a quarter are US based. It’s probably similar for X Plane. Europe is a very large market in aggregate.

Ahem, my reg is G-PIMP…

You’re right though, most Xbox users will just dip in and out, fly over their house, etc and then move on to something else, I just hope Asobo don’t tie down the platform so much that it stifles third party development.

It shouldn’t. You just may have to use more than the in game marketplace to buy your addons.

I tend to agree with suspicions that MS endorsed addons in their marketplace will be the only ones that work on console,

Traditionally, if you buy it for P.C. from the MS Store, and it comes out on Xbox, you can use it on either the Xbox or the P.C. No official word that it will work the same with MSFS, but it would be an outlier if it doesn’t.

As for console simmers, there is a surprisingly robust racing community and I suspect there will be an emerging flight sim community with MSFS since plenty of compatible hardware is out now.

I prefer using sims on console. You tend to get a consistent experience and aren’t always worried about upgrading your rig. And a 4K HDR TV is brilliant for simulation at the proper FOV. My rig is in my sound studio. I can’t set up all kinds of peripheral flight sim gear or it would impact my day job… so I cannot wait for a console release.

For many reasons I agree …
Some people spent a lot of money on their hardware ( CPU, GPU, RAM, flight controls etc…)
In fact: those ,$129 for FS2020 are only a tiny part of their investement.
Guess what? Only FS2020 will be updated every few weeks at no further cost…
Try that with a CPU, GPU, RAM etc… good luck
My personal rig is not realy top notch ( lenovo ideapad with i7, 1650 Q-max, 12 GB Ram, 1 TB SSD) and yes… that is not exactly top of the range but… I accept the lower settings that comes with it…

They also mentioned they were super impressed by the WorkingTitle CJ4, G1000, and G3000, but (if I understood correctly) they didn’t know how to get in touch with the developer(s). @CutthroatPath73, is that you?

Second that, I live in a city called Santa Ana about literally 5 min away from John Wayne airport. Would love to see a little bit of improvement to their but I know that is asking for a lot. I hope they at least fix John Wayne Airport. It is minor but the tower is just horrendous and the parking gats just do not make sense to me.

Jorg specifically said ‘the next World Update is expected to launch later this year, and will be dedicated to the United States territory’ in one of the community updates Asobo does.

Please state sources because Asobo’s own road map and all their material so far say “USA WORLD UPDATE”.

Now I wish it was North America and really hoping I’m wrong and you’re right. Canada never gets any love. I’m not expecting it though because Asobo have never said the udpate would be anything but the USA.

EDIT: If. your basis for this is the Around The World Series: North America, that’s not a preview of the world updates.

I said this because in the official trailer announcing the launch it specifically says North America and in the trailer the first 10 cities shown are Canadian starting with Quebec City and ending in Victoria BC.

It’s unequivocally ‘United States’ in last week’s roadmap update: [BLOG] November 19th, 2020 Development Update

The Around the World series has nothing to do with the World Updates. It’s not a preview or trailer for the udpates. It’s just showing off parts of NA with the existing graphics.

I wonder when we will see a trailer for the USA update? I recall seeing the Japan update trailer a day or so before that was released (https://youtu.be/nalJaTmv-TY). I assume similar for tomorrow’s release. That should mean a trailer at some point soon i.e. today?

That was an actual preview, and it’s advertised as such in the title. MS released that because they wanted to show it off at an event in Japan.

Considering the USA udpate is tomorrow, there are no events to show it off at, and there’s nothing posted as of right now, I wouldn’t really expect a trailer video.

I did some searches but couldn’t find anything indicating what the expectations should be for the update.
My guess is better graphics, increased accuracy and FPS?

Well, I wish our Canadian friends were included in the update. Maybe we will be surprised. I sure hope so.

No. The main focus of the World Updates is to enhance/improve an specific part of the World, it can be better satellite imagery, more photogrammetric coverage, custom airports, buildings/houses more architecturally accurate etc.

I hope so too. But honestly not expecting anything. If we get something, then it will be a nice bonus.

Higher resolution elevation data is one thing we can expect in the world update portion. THey’re adding several more hand-crafted airports in the US as well.

As for stuff in the updates, they released some stuff last week in their devblog. We were supposed to get better CPU optimization 2 patches ago. Then again last patch. Apparently that got pushed to this one, but I honestly don’t have high expectations. The only thing I’m expecting is a bunch of new bugs.
