Would it work? Dual GPU for Monitors and VR

I’m a few months off, but I’m thinking of getting a setup using dual GPUs on my computer.

I currently have a 2070 Super in my PC, and two 4k monitors hooked up. Here’s what I’ve noticed running the settings in a mix of High and Ultra on non-VR, and a mix of low and medium (with clouds as high) on VR (same settings each test, and flying around LA area):

NON-VR:
Both 4k monitors: ~32fps
One 4k monitor, other one disconnected: ~39fps (+7)

VR (HP Reverb G2, 100% scaling in MSFS and 80% scaling in OpenXR:
Both 4k monitors: ~18fps
One 4k monitor, other one disconnected: ~23fps (+5)
One 4k monitor running in 800x600 resolution: ~27fps (+9)

In VR world, 9 frames makes a pretty big difference. For me around 20ish-fps on VR is playable, and I like the eye candy (and higher resolution) so I keep it there. When showing friends I usually bump my graphics down to low and get closer to 30fps

Hoping to get a 3080 when I can get my hands on one. I know ATM FS only uses 1 GPU to do all the work, but I’m wondering which GPU that is. My idea is to plug my Reverb G2 into the 3080 to try to get MSFS to use that card, and keep my dual 4ks on my 2070.

Anyone have any knowledge or experience on this?
