Why the altimeter shows a wrong altitude if the AP is set to 20000?
Depends on when you activated ALT hold. The autopilot needs an “intercept” vector when it comes to vertical and horizontal catching. So, hit the VS button and dial down 500feet/min. The autopilot will then “catch” the ALT that you have set.
Its similar when you want to intercept the magenta NAV line. You would have to be heading towards the magenta for the system to “catch” it, and put you on course.

Thx a lot for your reply. I just wondering as i didnt hav such issues in MSFS2020. If i preselect a Alt of lets say FL200 the aircraft climbs accordingly to this altitude and maintain FL200 and not overclimb this altitude
I have only flown this gorgeous Pilatus once so far, and havent experienced an “overclimb” but have seen this happen with other aircraft in the past.
Be sure to have a vertical mode engaged after you set your cruise alt. Either VS or FLC (flight level change). These two make sure that the autopilot will stop at the set alt.
VS mode sets a feet per minute rate. (good for the beginning of the climb when you have lots of performance)
FLC sets a speed to hold while climbing. (good for upper levels where you dont want to loose speed and stall by climbing too steep)

As reported by @TBM9009319 from time to time there is an issue, I think with FLC and VNAV on, it exceeds the dialed in altitude. I could as for now not clearly identify the pattern of occurrence.
