X-29A (forward swept wings aircraft :)) work in progress

Hello everyone! Apparently the new 2024 SDK allows to simulate forward swept wings aircraft, and I really want to give it a try :sunglasses:. For this purpose I’m starting the development of the perfect candidate : the Grumman X-29A.

I’m creating this post to share the progress I will make. Also even if I’m great at modelling aircraft, I’m still a beginner in the sim implementation process. So this post is also made to catch the eye of developpers who can be interested in helping.

Best of luck and hopefully you get a boost from some developers who can assist. I’d love to see this in sim. The X-29A captivated me so much as a kid, especially as I was a big NASA nerd (still am.) I will keep an eye out for updates!

Hello, quick update. I did some progress in the cockpit, and I wanted to share a picture before coloring it, just because I think it looks cool

The only problem I have is that there aren’t a lot of pictures of this aircraft’s cockpit, and all the circuit breakers inscriptions are unreadable in its flight manual. I know that years ago the National Museum of the USAF had a 360° view of its cockpit. Unfortunaltely it has been deleted and I didn’t save it. If anyone has such visual documentation I would be gratefu!

Also thanks to the DCS community sense of detail about their F-5 cockpit (which the X-29 one is based on), I made it with the real-life dimensions they shared (so it is not just an “artist” view). I also learned about the standard MS25212 about pannel sizes.
