X45 Joystick solution (in my case)

Hi all,
I was struggling to get my old Saitek X45 to act as a linear control rather than an on\off switch for all control axes, including the throttle. I fiddled with sensitivities and null zones to no effect.

There was swearing.

After some trial and error in the Controls section I worked out that the go is to assign an axis and then also assign the corresponding axis with the + or - option. I assume this would also work for the X52 but ymmv.

I’m still fiddling at the edges with sensitivities but aircraft control and therefore enjoyment has increased exponentially from my initial experience.

I’m still struggling with the 2 buttons on the ‘right’ stick. I can’t figure out how to assign these to (forward- or backward) switch between my cockpit-camera views. In other words, assign the ctrl+1 options. Any tips?"

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been away for a few days. Apparently I can’t include links but you should be able to find the software mentioned below quite easily if you want to use it.

I gave up and just made sure I had a “center” option, which is just using the “5” key on the number pad.

I could’ve mapped that to a button on the stick (which I still might, perhaps the trigger ) but instead I have installed SmoothTrack on my iPhone

together with Opentrack

It’s a great poor man’s VR and makes changing views really easy (YMMV )

Good luck!!
