Xbox accounts

Hi all,

My son and I have recently started flying MSFS on an Xbox Series X. We have two separate accounts. I bought the Premium Deluxe version on my account and was then surprised to find he can only access the Standard Edition on his account. Is this correct?

I have also bought some additional aircraft and a couple of airports. Most of the time these don’t appear in my son’s account, but occasionally they do. I’m never quite sure why this happens!

For Christmas my son would like to buy some of ‘his own aircraft’. I’m worried that if he buys them on his account how will this work? Does anyone else have any experience of multiple MSFS accounts on a single Xbox and how this all works please?

With thanks in advance, Jez

Are you using Xbox friends & family sharing? To my knowledge, this doesn’t work with MSFS.

There is an FAQ here:

If you are not using friends & family sharing, then assure that both accounts on the device are signed into their own account used to purchase MSFS.

MS/Asobo make you pay for EVERYTHING. They want all of your money. Also FLight Sim has a history of locking after its been installed on one system. I remember the days of FS2004 trying to re install that on a new P.C I had to go through microsoft customer service on the phone.

Thanks for all your replies. The main thing I’ve learnt is that my little boy can buy some planes without fear of him loosing his Standard Edition account. Thanks!

That’s interesting, I’ve never had that problem.

What version did you buy?  A digital download?

For me, all I had to do was make sure that the requested CD was in the drive when I ran it.

I also have the standard version and I play on Xbox S on my dads account but I play on cloud gaming & when I try to play from my account it won’t let me for some reason…

If I recall correctly, there was a code inside the disc case that once entered would activate the game during the installation process. I remember getting a new P.C and it wouldnt authenticate using the code. I believe at first i was told to purchase another copy. But I found that to be ludacris, and stated my displeasure. Eventually got through to someone and it took more than a couple of days to get it sorted. I was given a new authentication code or something. The frustration was real.

Yes Microsoft is very greedy!

This could be related to making sure your xbox console is set as your home console. I didn’t have family sharing until I enabled this. That said, I also have a xboxOne. When you have several consoles, only one can be set as the home console.

MSFS2020 is unfair for Xbox users because Xbox users can get GSX and play on VATSIM but Xbox users can’t and I bought the CS 777-300er on my Xbox and the engines are not animated and their isn’t any wing flex but for people that play on pc the engines are animated and there is wing flew too so that is unfair:(
