XBox App install for MS Store version fails

Recently acquiring a WD Black HDD and not thinking that using it with XBox app is like taking one’s own finger off with a butcher knife, I am now appealing to anyone who might have gotten this to work. I want to install to a 4TB WD Black external drive which according to some is a HYBRID SSD/HDD. Now, since MS having moved the installing and updating to the XBox app, I am unable to install more than the initial 1.23GB install stuff on C: drive as it is too full (and no - I cannot uninstall stuff from it to make room). I had used an a WD Black drive previously for my Community install stuff (the “installing to another drive”), so why can I not do so now?? I am out my cost for Premium Deluxe until this can be resolved. And I have searched Google, Yahoo, et. al here for any help… so far none to be found.

With some luck, this guide may be some help:

Thank you for that article, although I had already tried that. I am not sure just what was messed up, but it is pretty surely something that invaded my system. but result was having to do a complete reinstallation of my OS. So far that seems to have quelled the installation issue as the program finally opened up and allowed me to choose my preferred install drive.

Again @TheSevenflyer - thank you for your input - and everyone else - for putting up with an old flight simmer’s (at it since 1989!) rantings…
