XBox Controller User's Help

Issue: My laptop has a combined WiFi/Bluetooth card. Our internet and WiFi runs between 20-22 Mbs speed. MSFS apparently needs every available bit of that speed. I see the available speed at the laptop with WiFi but that speed gets cut dramatically when the bluetooth XBox controller (slashed 50% or more) is on and the response of MSFS degrades significantly.

Question: Does anyone here have a similar configuration? Could you check your WiFi speed with and without the controller on? Does your XBox controller kill a significant amount of your WiFi speed?

FYI:
I have updated all drivers.
My laptop meets the mid-level requirements of MSFS (32 ram, i7-8750H CPU, GTX 1060)
Use a temporary wired USB connected controller to restore WiFi speed.
Have checked the two antenna connections for continuity on the wireless card.
Have changed WiFi channels to avoid interference.
Have swapped out a different wireless card to see it it helps.
Plan to add a separate external Wifi (or Bluetooth) function to offload the card.

One option is to just connect a USB cable to your XBox controller and use it in wired mode instead. Or get a super cheap USB Wi-Fi dongle and use that instead of your integrated Wi-Fi.

Yep, the XBox USB cable is what I’ve done temporarily. Eventually I plan to remove one of the two wireless functions from the internal card. The cord now is kind of a pain the way I use the laptop, literally on top of my lap. Every time I have to get up, I have to worry about snagging the thing.

I can totally understand that. It’s nice to have a wireless controller without constantly snagging the cable or having it be in the way. It’s a good workaround, but not the ideal solution.

Sounds like a wi-fi USB dongle is probably your better option then. That way you remove the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from the same bus / PCIe lane so traffic from one doesn’t bog down the other.
