Xbox has a plane...Kodiak!

That freeze when you hit fly is something recent with the SU8 as I never had that previously. It must still be running checks or something in the background. But every time you are just waiting for a CTD

Quick question on the Skydive version of this plane, if someone could answer it. I can open the rear door using the switch in the cockpit but I can’t close the door afterwards. Even if I go back to the door the only option that highlights is ā€œopen doorā€.
What am I doing wrong here?

Check overhead, between the pilots’ seats.

Passengers only exist in Mixed & Tundra. They weren’t added in Summit & Skydive because of performance concerns.

The delay in the hangar makes sense, the Kodiak loads a lot of textures and code. If it performs well after the initial loading there is no reason to worry.

Are those results with or without the NXi?

Id bet that slight hitch in load times is due to the sheer number of variations have to cue up, and the aircraft is fairly complex graphically. I would wait an extra second or two for additional FLOAT versions to load, hint hint…

I’ll try to test my scenarios without the NXI installed and see what happens

The textures for all liveries aren’t loaded at once. It just seems MSFS dumps all textures from memory and reloads them when you change a livery. It happens on PC too but not for as long and also depends on background tasks.

Chrome & Steam tend to bite MSFS performance for me. Xbox is much cleaner in that regard.

I was hoping you would say float version coming Monday…

I fin this plane one of the few that the rudder on takeoff feels right. I dont add any trim and find it easy to hold centerline. Most modeled aircraft essentially have a rudder game you have to remember how to play on takeoff and the inputs are way behind whatever bizarre habits are pre programmed into it. Like the wacko waco, as soon as you correct it veers off in some other direction, bring the tail up and its an F1 car at the spoon at suzuka

The Floatiak still needs work and it will be an independent package (stand-alone product) at 50% the price as it has fewer variants.

Not too long but it is already very late.

Thx for the info on the passengers.

But the hangar problem I disagree . The frozen screen is a timeout. After
that timeout the actual loading process begins like with any other Aircraft.

I can confirm with the NXI add-on removed the Kodiak worked without CTD with all the scenarios I tested last night. Xbox X

Great plane BTW!

So it seems that we can fly this plane just fine as long as we uninstall the nxi?

Yes and no. I have flown this plane a few times with Nxi installed. Yes sooner or later it will do a CTD. I just did a KRBG to KPDX IFR 1:35 hour flight. No issues. After that I did a few loads no issues.

Some background before I comment of CTD issues.
I spent the last years of my working life as a Test Engineer. What does a Test Engineer do | Indeed.com.
So I think I know and understand hardware and software systems. And how to test them. I’m now retired but I don’t think the process has changed.
Also I have flown my MSFS 2020 C172 and C208 around the world. That’s about 160 hours of real time. I’m in the process of ā€˜flying’ up the west coast of South and North America. My point it two fold.
One I have experience with the game and two I have dealt with all sort of software bugs in the system.
I use a XBox S with 1 TB expansion and Turtle Beach V1 controller.
Ok with that out of the way---- my observation

  1. A product that is released to the public should be tested for form and function. Blaming the user is nothing but victim blaming.
  2. Being original equipment manufacture is no excuse.
  3. A company knows or should know what type of platform the product is used on.
    Suggested Solution
(as this sadly is not the first time this issue has come to the bite end users)
Once a vendor gives MS/Asosbo a add-on it should be tested for compatibility. This should be test in real live or real user mode. For instance once a add-on passes MS/Asosbo they could round trip the product to the vendor to test on real world ie XBox X/S then back to MS/Asosbo to re-test then release to the public. Since both companies are in the same box they should look for solutions to keep the customers happy.

in 10hr of flights didn’t have a single ctd while in flight

did have some ctd loading the flight (20% roughly maybe less)

always used nxi, xbox series x, real weather, ai traffic

usually when CTD jump back in game and get it right with same config of plane, livery and flight plan

it’s not ideal (mainly because restart the game it takes time) but all in all since the plane is so good the overall experience is positive and totally enjoying it

Did you turn off live traffic or always had it off?

I thought you were having more CTDs, is there something you did that improved stability?

I’ve been flying with the NXi uninstalled and it’s been solid, no CTD. Not the ideal solution but with limited time I don’t want to spend half of it loading and reloading , so this works.

Anyone having an issue with their G1000 shutting down after a few minutes?

Hi there,
I’m on the series X. Didn’t install the NIX and it’s super stable. No CTD. Great plane, great sound. I’m curious about the Concord

the morning i bought it i had it like 4 ctd in a row, so i reinstalled it and kept track of the ctd percentage to see if it was livery related; turned out it was completlely random and then lots of people reported the nxi as the issue

as for me i always had (so even before the kodiak) the live traffic off and everything else on but i do not think it makes any difference

the best bet to improve stability seems to be revert to default g1000 (which I’m not doing but it nice to finally have spot the trouble)

also if you have any problem with the topo map a quick restart from flight always got me the topo and rel map (again i guess if you use the default g1000 i think it’s not a thing)

i love it
