Can someone please tell me if I need XBox Pass and/or XBox Ultimate pass, to use MSFS2020? I bought the sim on Microsoft store. I only use it on my Desktop PC…it is prob very simple. I just do not understand how it all works…Somehow I am getting charged by Microsoft for $16 bucks a month…Thanks in advance
I think you are paying for the online gaming service provided with xbox “game pass” which offers a selection of titles. And then I believe with a 1$ extra charge you get an additional selection of titles which includes MSFS. Or something along those lines.

If you bought it on the MS Store for PC, I believe you don’t have access to the XB Version (not 100% sure), but if you did instead buy the XB Version in the XB Store, you can also play the PC Version for free. This is a Play Anywhere Title. You don’t need any Game Pass. If you want to play Online with friends, you need XBL Gold (not Gamepass!), which costs about 60$ / year. GamePass Ultimate includes XBL Gold, while the normal Game Pass doesn’t. Game Pass is a gaming flat line abo you can play the games in it (FS ist one of them) as long you pay the abo.
So the question is, is the Play Anywhere feature still so, that games bought on PC MS Store, are only playable on PC or not. If you are able to download the Game in XB Store for free with the same gamertag as on the PC, than everything is fine and you don’t need anything further. If not, you must buy it again on the XB or buy the game pass abo and pay every month money to play FS from the GP. To play Online with firends, you need only XBL Gold and NO Game Pass abo, I you bought it again on the XB.

If you bought the game on the xbox than you can play the game except for multiplayer mode.
Multiplayer is cross platform.

Purchase of MSFS over XBOX or Microsoft Store allows you unlimited use of the sim on PC AND XBox! Yes, Multiplayer fully INCLUDED! Why? Because this IS a multiplayer sim!
Getting MSFS via the XBox games pass subscription allows the SAME unlimited use of the sim on BOTH platforms, XBox AND PC!! But it only lasts as long as you have the subscription!
PURCHASE at STEAM ONLY allows use of the sim on PC!

I have flight simulator on my series S, multiplayer is greyed out.
Also if you have gamepass ultimate you can play games on cloud and not install on xbox. It helps out save a lot of space on the HD for games that really don’t need installing.
