Why in Xbox series x photogrammetry cities don’t look good anymore. When the game first came out the cities in photogrammetry looked great. Any idea why?
Which cities in particular? I’m on XBX too and find the buildings look better but not 100% still as I still see some buildings which look like piles of rubble. FPS has definitely dipped on the XBX. Would be nice if we also had a LOD slider.
It’s quite common that the servers get absolutely hammered during and shortly after a big update.
It’s quite possible that what you are seeing with photogrammetry (and performance issues) are directly related to server load.
My photogrammetry cities on xbox series x aren’t clear and not detailed like when I first got the game. Can you fix this somehow? Is my internet to slow?
The sim on the XBX has gradually got worse since release in terms of graphical performance. The version of the sim on release day was the best so far on the XBX.
specially the cities in Europe, everything was fine a week ago but now the texture and photogrammetry just feels weird
I am on a series s
Hoping this will be looked into
This isn’t an Xbox issue.
A quick forum search will show you these issues with photogrammetry have been around since launch. You can have an excellent experience, then suddenly out of nowhere, your PG landscapes look like a melted post-apocalyptic wasteland. You get one group of users who say everything is fine and post screen shots to back up their view. And then you get others flying over the same areas showing screen shots of the horrible PG. Then as inexplicably as it started, everything goes back to normal again for the affected users.
I’ve experienced it multiple times in the past, but now it seems to work fine for me. I think it’s a server side issue.
I increased my cache to 100 GB and it seems to help. I also run at 60hz and not 120hz which I think also helps this game.
This is Manhattan from last week.
First week my series X crashed about every 30 mins consistently, but as of now only does so if I am using quick resume too often. I’m pretty certain where you live, whats going on with your internet in the exact moment, and how long the xbox has been simply turned on are all of the things that decide what makes the game stability remain in motion 24/7. I also happen to live in seattle so when I stick to the west server I almost never have issues
I totally get what you mean and tbh I thought the same thing. My internet is constantly over 500mbps when tested and I tried different servers but still the issue remains. I’ve tried playing at different times of the day and no difference. This all started after the first update since release. The smoothest it has been was the release version on the XB. This happens even when I first switch on the XB before it gets to heat up.
A good example is try flying out of MMMX which was silky smooth before.
I will try this airport and see what I get. Always good for us to compare locations.
Ok, so I tried flying out of MMMX airport, it seemed smooth until…CTD
Will try it again later tonight but this is my first CTD since I have had MSFS. There might be a coding issue at this airport.
I’ve only flown out of MMMX once. I just got it last week and wanted to tour Mexico City, which I got the week before. But the flight went ok. I fly a lot of of MMAN also by FlyMex and I haven’t had any issues out of there. But I also have slowdowns in Travis and you don’t, so I’m not sure what the differences between our two systems are, or if they account for any of this
My only thought would be the servers we connect to?
Maybe. I connect to East US
I connect to the west
Glad to have found this topic. I was wondering if, rather than waiting forever for the chance to by an x-series box, maybe I should get a gamer PC! Flying in Paris today the Notre Dame looked awful until I was going past it. I turned around thinking it might still be in cache but no I got this modern version of it.
Then flying towards the Eiffel Tower got this from a distance
and it did not resolve even as I approached it and turned right in front. Is this an XBOX issue?
Later after reading about possible server issues I went back both as an Activity and then just to look around and Paris looked fine for the most part. I wish there wasn’t so much redrawing as things get close but I suppose that’s also server-related. Nice to see how good it can be and disappointing when the photogrammetry fails.
I play on an xbox series s - having seen some videos on youtube of gameplay footage from the S and thinking it was more than good enough for me - however, in a flight round my home town of Birmingham, a lot of the buildings were the sort of generic ones you get when the photogrammetry is turned off - though it is turned on - when on the videos there were lots of recognisable buildings etc.
This sounds a bit like the problems some people are facing here - however it is worth noting my internet is pretty slow at 20-25 MbPS download speed.
Will it be this having an impact as well, or just the issues mentioned here?
Hi guys and greetings from Split, Croatia.
Just bought a Series X a month ago.
At first, photogrammetry worked fine, but in the last week or so I’m getting substantial stutters and lagging when flying above cities like Paris or New York.
The flight is perfectly smooth at well over 30 fps, but every 5 to 10 seconds I get a 0,5 - 1 second stutter, as if the scenery is having trouble loading, or something.
My running cache is set to 5 GB and my connection speed is 200 Mb/s.
The problem is so bad now that I switched the photogrammetry completely off.
Btw. everything else is running smoothly and with no problems. Only the photogrammetry cities are having issues.
Also, in the last week or so, i got a couple CTD-s after ending a flight and trying to go back to the main menu. After the CTD, I have to wait for about 5 minutes for everything to load back up. Is the problem perhaps caused by that “quick resume” functionality of the Xbox?
An update to my problem.
Yesterday I turned the photogrammetry back on, cleared the cache, increased it to 10 GB, switched off Live Traffic, switched off multiplayer (even though I don’t have Xbox Gold or Game Pass) and restarted the whole game.
From that point all of my flying above photogrammetry cities of Paris, New York, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Vienna was without any major stutters and problems. All the objects were rendered in a pretty high quality and there were no “melting” artifacts.
Now, since I made a multitude of changes to the settings, it’s hard to pin-point which one did the trick, but my guess is on the deletion of the old cache file and restarting the game fresh. I won’t be using Quick Resume any more, because I have a feeling that this also had something to do with the slow performance.
