Xbox release date coincidence?

I just shared the latest MSFS 2020 trailer to a friend after discovering he has interest in the sim after I mentioned it a recent conversation. We are both long time road warriors with way too much time spent on commercial airliners as passengers over the past 30years. He pointed out the release date for the Xbox version is for 7/27 and wondered if there might be any correlation to the Boeing “727” or just a coincidence?

The first time I ever flew on an airplane was on a 727 from Pittsburg to Newark on TWA back in the late 70’s for a work related trip. I noticed that the model was also introduced to the US commercial airlines fleet on my birthday…another coincidence! Retired from US commercial service in 2003.

A North East Yellowbird 727 was my first flight.

Well it wouldn’t be the first time a company rolled out a product to match a date. The 787 was essentially pushed out the door on 7/8/7 in a half-finished state in order to satisfy marketing at Boeing.

As for the Xbox release, I don’t think there is any significant about the date other than it’s a Tuesday which always seems to be a Microsoft release day.

LOL my first flight was a DC3 out of Ohare to Cleveland. I remember looking out the window and watching the flames blow out the exhaust as they started the engine on my side of the plane…

Mine was a DC-6, at night, with some storms. I was just a kid and what an adventure. So amazing.

But on the fire front, this is all just getting started, unfortunately.
