DETAIL
This is a tiny airport but Ini have chosen to omit a terminal interior and use lower-res textures away from the main terminal area. Priced at under £6 (certainly when I bought it a few months back) it’s hardly surprising it’s not as crammed full of detail as other Ini offerings. But what is here is nicely done, though a few more buildings modelled around the runway ends would have been nice. The terminal building looks good and features static passengers and vehicles, and a static army chopper is included on the military apron. There is custom vegetation and a custom perimeter fence, plus telegraph/light poles (complete with cables) and several businesses on the airside road that passes the airport. Runway textures are nice and illustrate the excessive wear and tear no doubt seen at the real airport.
PERFORMANCE
Decent but perhaps a fraction below average for an airport this size — particularly when you consider there is no interior modelling. But it does take quite a bit to trigger black screens and CTDs are very rare. It’s completely stutter-free, unsurprisingly.
VERDICT
For the price it’s great, particularly for those (like me) who enjoy puddle-jumping around the Greek islands in the ATR. It’s a hilly island and the approach from the north, along the coastline, is quite scenic. The airport sees seasonal A320 operations by Aegean and it’s quite a challenge — in the sim and no doubt in reality — to get a 320 down on the short runway! Like many small, island airports, the experience is enhanced by Seafront Simulations’ Global Shipping, which puts moving vessels in relatively close proximity to the runway.
