Which aircraft are you reporting an issue about? (Please also add the proper tag for it)

TBM930, Sting S4

Brief description of the issue:

in an aircraft equipped with G3000 there is a severe drop in fps to 1-2fps around any handcrafted or addon airfield

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

will try to grab some video and post

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

the scenario I used for testing was: start cold and dark in TBM930 at an enhanced airfield (I was using the Burning Blue Design Redhill EGKR) start up and during taxi the frames dropped to a slide show, then again in the air around Redhill and Gatwick (default Gatwick). Quit the flight, loaded at the same airfield in the steam gauge C-172, repeated exercise with no frame drop. Quit the flight, loaded at the same airfield in the Sting S4 (3rd party aircraft), repeated exercise and massive frame drop. Quit the flight and loaded at the same airfield in the G1000 C-172, smooth flight no frame rate drop.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

Xbox series X

Note the Sting S4 does not have a G3000; it has a G3X.

I had thought it was basically the same device but with touch enabled?

Or should I update the title to include both descriptions?

No, the G3000 and G3X are completely unrelated systems; the G3000 includes an advanced autopilot and is used in complex turboprop and jet aircraft.

The G3X is mostly targeted at light GA prop planes, including the homebuilt/kit/experimental segment.

In the sim, the G3X code hasn’t been significantly updated in the last couple years, while the G3000 has received a complete overhaul to support complex autopilot scenarios.

That’s good information to know. Based on that I think the actual issue isn’t specifically the units but the quantity and complexity of the displays.

I think prior to SU13 we probably would have got more black screens and crashes, since SU13 it could be that the memory optimisation that was done is now preventing the black avionics and crashes happening so often at the expense of updates in a timely manner.

During my testing, the sound continued be heard without pause. Even to the point that although the image was 1-2 fps, the sounds of the suspension squeaking (in the Sting) continued as if the plane was moving normally. So it’s definitely an update thing of the displays.

While I hated the black avionics/crashes I find the slide show on final or taxi/take off more intrusive!

Yeah, the G3X code isn’t as complex/featureful but the Sting has its own additional simulator specialty handling code, and there’s an EFB tablet which is implemented as another display, essentially, that the C172 doesn’t have.

Interesting I just flew the parallel 42 Kitfox and that has 2 G3x units, and it was smooth as silk with no fps drops…

I’m on Xbox S, since SU13 :

Massive fps drop and stutters with the Daher 100 Kodiak (G1000).

Lag and stutters with the Carenado 182RG (no glass cockpit) above cities for the most of the time.

Some lags with the C172 but everything is ok with the C152 or the G36 for exemple…

Take your comment to this topic! Although it is aimed at the 747/787, it does not only cover these two aircraft. It is a general problem on most standard aircraft. I would like to ask the forum moderation to unify all these topics into one, which relates to this issue of microstuttering after SU13, this should help more people to collaborate on this issue.
