XBOX - Unable to search for airports in EFB

  1. Description of the issue:
    When attempting to search for airports in either the destination or arrival in the EFB for flight planning, an airport code can be entered but the list of search results doesn’t appear. It’s almost as if the Xbox on-screen keyboard (OSK) gets in the way.

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

  1. Open the EFB.
  2. Select either the “Add departure” or “Add arrival” fields.
  3. Type in an airport code or name and select enter on the on-screen keyboard. The text will be entered in the field, but there is no list of search results. Pressing B on the controller simply closes the OSK and clears the field.

• I tried to input YPPH as Perth international airport into the EFB. Yeh does not work. When I type it in by using the on screen keyboard, i can see the list show in background but there’s no way i can click on that.

• load into world with any aircraft. Open EFB and click the departure airport box. This brings up the Xbox on screen keyboard. You can type the airport code in and this brings a pull down menu to select the airport. If you close the keyboard, the menu disappears and stops you from selecting it. Makes planning flights impossible on Xbox as planning on world map causes the sim to freeze

On Xbox Seris X, the (very great) EFB tablet is unusable when typing in text field.

If I want to make a flight plan, and type in the text fild “departure/arrival airport”, it open the Xbox virtual keyboard. But sometimes, the text filds are also used as a dropdown menu : you just type in the airport OACI code, and now the text field wants to suggest the right airport through the dropdown menu. But if you click again the text fild to see the dropdown menu, this action opens again the Xbox virtual keyboard and erase what you just type in…

So, unusable…

Cannot enter ICAO in departure or destination field using EFB on Xbox.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Click the departure airport box, an onscreen keyboard pops up…
  2. Key in the ICAO and hit enter, popup disappears and the text is in the EFB field with an X in a blue box next to it.
  3. I click the X and the keyboard popup appears again and observe (in the background) a list under the departure airport box of search results…
  4. But cannot click them until hit return or escape to close the keyboard popup…
  5. Then the field goes back to blank!!
  6. Same behavior using only Xbox controller to enter text in the popup or an external logitech keyboard.

I can confirm it doesnt work on Xbox but does work on PC i play on both and tested on both

I’m having the same issue. XBOX Series X. In addition to not being able to find any airport in the flight planner, I’m unable to see any charts or weather.

This is also happening on Xcloud. Alternatively, you can use the 2024 flight plan website ( planner.flightsimulator.com) (which is very good, by the way) to create the flight plan, save it and load it on the tablet. But the fun part is that you can do this on the tablet. I’ll leave a video demonstrating the issue.

Another issue is that the map on the EFB shifts from side to side and zooms in and out as you move around the cockpit when you are on the Xbox controller. This can cause significant disruption to the simulator, with the map constantly moving in all directions and zooming in and out. I tried clicking on an area outside of the EFB, but that didn’t fix the issue. I remember in 2020, a “white rectangle” would appear around the tablet screen on some aircraft to prevent this, but it was removed in 2024 I think.

Is this a known issue on Xbox? I tried the flight planner on EFB for the first time and unable to create a flight plan or view any airport information or charts. What am I missing?

Only issue is that the website will not store the flight plan for some reason it refreshes to a blank screen whenever I click save

It works fine here. Try it in another browser or on your phone to see.

I found on my Series X that airport codes do not work in the EFB but do work on the globe page. Frustrating.

I searched for it until I found it, but I couldn’t click on the airport. Take a look at my video, you can see that at one point it seems like when you exit the search menu, the airport is erased. The impression I have is that it’s expecting a keyboard and mouse and not an Xbox controller without a keyboard.

Description of the issue: When flight planning with the EFB, the arrival and departure airports cannot be entered with the onscreen keyboard. You can type in the ICAO codes, but they are not recognized. The only way to make them usable is to select them by clicking on the from the map.

  3. Once entered, no options for runways, procedures, etc. are available
  4. Open the map and click on the same airport and select as departure or arrival.
  5. All options for flight planning are now available

• if you click on the airport in the EFB map, you can then select it as departure or arrival and when you return to the flight planning page, it is entered correctly and all the options are now available

• I use a mouse for interacting with the cockpit while still retaining the ability to control a plane with the controller. I still cannot select from the dropdown menu when I am trying to search for an airport, VOR, etc., in the EFB. Once the onscreen keyboard comes up it becomes the ‘active window’ and when it is closed, it clears the field.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

There is an Xbox Specific Bug with attempting to use the flight planner on the tablet in game to create a flight plan, which I have subsequently confirmed appears to apply to all location search fields accessed through the tablet

The Xbox Virtual Keyboard prevents display / selection of location search results on the tablet.

Due to the above, the flight planner in aircraft is not usable to create a flight plan on console…

This issue could be avoided if the xbox virtual keyboard was not popped up when a physical keyboard is present - and allowed direct interactions with the fields using the physical Keyboard.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  • Click in the Add departure field
  • Xbox virtual keyboard pops up
  • Type in the airport code and press enter
  • Text entered is inserted into the field… but no drop down appears with a list of search results
  • Click in the field again, and the search results drop down with matching airport(s) appears below the field… but is not selectable because the xbox virtual keyboard has taken focus
  • Cancel out or enter the same value… and this clears or enters the value into the field, but again does not present a list of results to select from.
