Have the same problems as well. I’m gwtting sick of this now and it will probably be after Christmas and New Years until they’re able to take a look further.
Another problem is in XBox Cloud Gaming the Controlling key-mapping will randomly be messed up so that you can not open settings anymore and the active session will randomly loose focus of your controller.
It is not playable anymore worse than MSFS 2020.
I tested it with Playstation Dualsense and Xbox MICROSOFT Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller on MacOS, Windows, iOS and TV….
Every combination will have the same problem… I can not even change the mapping if my only input device in cloud gaming is my controlle

I also have massive problems. This is what works best for me:
- Play via PC and Chrome
- Use cable for controller
This usually brings me with almost 100% success rate in the game.
However, when I start flying, in 50% of the cases the axis of the right stick is inverted. What then helps is closing the browser and quickly opening it again to re-join the game.
With that I can play. Only issue is that after a certain time (or when skipping parts during a mission) it „forgets“ my controller. Then also closing the browser doesn’t work. I then need to stop playing and try again after a couple of hours.
Where are now in 2025, this issue is still happening. 
I have the same setup as the OP.
Unable to select any options from the in game menu. “Resume, Restart, End Flight, Settings, Main Menu” Controller is not recognized. This happens every time I play. Fix it.
Funny think is that for me on Xbox X with the TCA Captain Pack X the reverse thrusters DID work up to about a week ago. I’m using MSFS 2024 version 1.2.8.0. I had a problem with what I thought was a corrupt profile so deleted it and started over working with the default provided and tweaked a few bindings but reverse thruster function no longer works. I think (but not sure as it was several weeks ago) I started with a completely empty profile the first time instead of the default. I wonder if that is the difference? If I’ll have time I’ll give that a shot though it takes a whole lot of time.
Tried playing with my PC on cloud and can’t even advance past the home screen. Controller nor mouse will work. Why?
Don‘t 100% get what you mean - you’re talking about Xbox Cloud Gaming? Because this thread is about cloud gaming and not running the game on a Xbox
Xbox App on my TV takes me to the cloud. Nothing works.

Is there any update on this ? (Specially Samsung TV since refresh etc doesn’t work) I thought product from Microsoft with game from Microsoft and controller from Microsoft would work together after 2 months of release ? Stupid me though it’s the ps5 controller and went to buy Xbox one lol

Unable to get Xbox controller to connect to game. Tried multiple recommended solutions and nothing works. We tried mouse and keyboard but discovered it’s not supported either. We have now boxed up our Christmas present and will return to store since this does not work. Massive disappointment.

This isn’t isolated, everyone I know has the same issue. Still using the reload workaround (only works in a web browser, not on mobile).
Although today I was in career mode and skipped part of the flight – and after skipping it’s as though all controller functionality/mapping disappeared, and I couldn’t get it working with the refresh/reload workaround. This also happens if you get the ‘Run in safe mode’ screen after the game says it closed/crashed unexpectedly. No controller inputs despite trying any known workarounds.
