XPlane has Nothing to worry about

RC2 is about to go out, are you even following their progress?

The sad thing is the absolute nonsense that people say about XP and FS in equal measure. There is no 11.50 XP beta, its in release candidate stage. And nobody with a decent set up gets worse performance in Vulkan than they do in GL, that is pure baloney its at least 20% faster for Nvidia cards at up to 50% faster for AMD cards and in both cases a lot smoother.

Some objectivity on both sides instead of all the utter guff about FS or XP would no go amiss. Nothing worse than fanboys on both sides of the debate in my opinion, neither does anything to improve either sim.

It may still be a car if it is missing items but is it the model that is depicted, and in order to be certified that model had to have certain capabilities.

Well a sat nav doesn’t make a car, and not being able to use ForeFlight natively or use multiple monitors straight away doesn’t suddenly make it a game. As I said, there is far too much being simulated to be a game. A game is the flight modelled in GTA or BF4.

Now if the car had a missing wheel, then you can start to question whether it can be certified as a car still.

The point of the analogy is, theses elements are insignificant to most, and they certainly don’t differentiate between being a sim vs a game. A missing Sat nav isn’t the same as a missing wheel. It barely makes a difference.

You pay extra for features like Sat Nav in a car, it had better work as a result or people will rightfully expect a partial refund or a reduced monthly leasing cost. This is not right to just except things not working as normal or acceptable, when you pay for something it has to work or you are entitled to compensation. Its money being spent. these features are not free, they are factored into the price of the product. I say this as a businessman and as a consumer, stop accepting poor service and faulty goods from suppliers as normal and acceptable, its not on!

The point we’re discussing has totally sailed past you.

I’m talking about StagedRain2’s comment that just because it doesn’t have some features in that he would like to see, it suddenly became a game rather than a sim. If you read back up, I’ve disputed that comment. Not being able to use ForeFlight, or multiple monitors doesn’t suddenly make it a game. It makes it a few features short of his expectations.

I’ve used the analogy that if a car doesn’t have a sat nav, it doesn’t stop being a car just as MSFS didn’t suddenly stop being a sim because it doesn’t meet his view of the world.

I’ve no idea what you’re talking about. No one said it would work with Foreflight, or support multiple monitors. So, if a customer buys a car knowing it doesn’t have a sat nav, you can’t complain about it being missing can you?!? That’s not poor service, its poor research and setting your own expectations incorrectly. Read the brochure…

Why is this thread even continuing still. This is so pointless, just like the whole ‘how do the default fs2020 planes stack up to pmdg’ thread… Lol guys there’s no point in arguing here. FS2020 is great and was just released, barebones, has nothing ‘enthusiast’ level to it yet other than the appearance. XPlane 11 has years of work post release and lots of addons. To sum up the replies to this post, depending on what you’re trying to do, that’s how you decide what sim you choose. Not the BS multi-page arguments going on here. bruh. It’s like p3d vs xplane back before fs2020 “WelLLl I choOsE P3D for AiRLInerS ANd XpLanE FOr GA” This is seriously the dumbest ■■■■, guys, just chill out and go fly in your sims ffs

Yeah you are right, I misunderstood your point.

The good thing about forums and threads is, they’re optional.

If it’s bothering you that much. Don’t click it and don’t read it. :grinning:

Not bothered by it, just thought to chime in as there’s already about 200+ replies here haha

I agree :grinning: with that

Wow, X-plane is already on version 172. Does X-plane 172 include any improvements or new features compared to version 5.

1990’s platform forever!

Yay.

Let me guess.

Okay - nice, but the current weather in MSFS is not even close to X-Plane current format that can be instantly enabled to particular training session. That´s what instrument flying on a simulator is all about. The Weather in MSFS 2020 is non-existent (no LVO, no RVR / no visibility setting, no IFR) - no IFR flying. It´s called Visual Ground Segment (Horizontal and Vertical). You cannot even set the weather according to your particular training in IMC conditions. BTW: I´m flying in real life and I´ve never ever experienced visibility 600 km, so it´s totally pointless… In case you would like to discuss real weather, especially on a simulator, just learn the basics first.

I do not know where you fly but not everyone flies in smog. I have seen the lights of Sydney at night from more than 600 km om a dry clear night jump seating in a Carvair. Guess that shows my age.

Oh wow, you nailed it. The whole IFR thing completely unravelled the absolute mess I described that is X-Plane’s weather system. I’d rather have 600KM that I can’t possibly see the end of than a 5KM ring

I bet the 3 seconds of no weather you get on the METAR refresh must add to your IFR realism. Now you see it, now you don’t. Now you see it, now you don’t.

“JFK, this is SkyLark, I think we might have to go around we still can’t see the runway. Oh no wait… there it is, we can even see you in the tower… oh heck no, no, scratch that, the weather is back, we can’t see anything again now” :joy:

and you do realise, RVR in X-Plane doesn’t work don’t you? (Didn’t the last time I checked anyway.)

P.s. I didn’t need to call on any ‘real life’ flying to see this. Also, stating that makes you sound condescending. Just a heads up.

Steam is good. Good reason buy other place is when you want support developer more and buy directly from them (like X-Plane, DCS and IL2). What comes IL2 steam have not all DLCs because you can’t have DLC of DLC in steam. I have all of those in steam.

Updating is easy in steam (but FS do not use steam updating system). One very good feature is that you can move files to other places easily, I do not know if it is working with FS. Then you van see all uninstalled games easily and add other than steam games to it. It is easier to copy mods to game folder with steam than with microsoft store games. Steam have peretty good store and discounts too.

What comes to FS, Steam have not Game Pass, microsoft store have. I have not decided which version, steam or microsoft store, I will buy. Maybe game pass.

Agree 100% on EGGD from Pilot Plus; good small developer that do some great work. I really hope they bring it to here; I’ll be at the front of the queue to buy it. It’s a shame these small but very good devs don’t get more recognition because pretty soon the store will be swamped with all the ■■■■ Orbx and Aerosoft can possibly throw at you.

Why don’t you say the same thing about X-plane, then? None of its default aircraft are fully operable.

Nothing has been announced but PP have told me that they are very aware of the need for a decent version of EGGD for FS so I think we can read between the lines and assume one will come at some point.
