XPlane has Nothing to worry about

ya, tell us what we don’t get…

i fully get that many of you “simmers” expected this sim to be up to it’s promises from day one even though some you have even alpha / beta users during which phase nothing got fixed either, as it seems. however, it’s not, we got it and never ever will be because none of us can turn back time.

done! it’s okay. it’s deficient in many ways and no, they didn’t keep all their promises. that i didn’t expect or believed that from the beginning once aside. microsoft still has kind of a history with releasing unfinished things (remember windows vista, the internet explorer, iis, …) but that, too might just be me.

and then again: i bought on day one but i was more than curious and ready for just everything. that i didn’t even expect anything at all, again, once aside: just always be prepared for the worst so you won’t be disappointed. it works for me and i’m just too old for this since i have been disappointed just way too many times.

but what now? keep on grinding for telling them they failed, again and again and again? for what reason and how would it speed up fixing things if, for example, devs had to crawl through somewhat tiring threads like this? well, maybe you know any better… i bet you do, haha. and aside from that, it’s simply always the same and the same and the same issues that get brought up here.

but apart from that, this is what i got learn about the x-plane and its user community (and ya, i know it’s somewhat generalized and not right but to keep it short):

  • seems to have superior flight models with respect to many many planes (different reasons i.e. third parties are around et cetera) and there are even faa-certified version and planes (probably costs way different then, though) and this is awesome. that’s nothing this game here will accomplish in the next one, two or even three years but i might be wrong. and again, we acknowledge.

  • is not really goot looking out of the box and i tried it out (well, there are add-ons, 15tb of them plus many many more tb as it seems; i don’t have that storage capacity around but that again might just be me)

  • their community is sworn in and disregards many many things (and ya, i checked their forum for some while now)

  • XP 12 will come and XP 11.5 finally introduced the vulcan API - for the better or the worse (i don’t even think that dx12 is worth any hassle but again, maybe it’s just me, haha)

to boil it down it comes to this: x-plane is way more advanced than this game and it won’t be for quite a while. microsoft and asobo might have promised a lot and didn’t deliver on spot for you but

i am overwhelmed because i am new to this and can’t even compete with all the issues coming down on me. i still can’t reliably land a c172 in this game (my navlog says 1 out of 13 flight i get a touch down, at least).

and this might be something you don’t get: there are currently many many new ones to this that are a wealth for this and your sim community. we spend money, encourage third parties to join and continue to exite all of us and may even convince microsoft as a publisher (which they are, microsoft is NOT the developer) to provide more and more ressources in the long run - a run that has started for many of us three weeks ago.

since many of you seem to be missing things that haven’t been fixed or been around during alpha / beta, why wonder that there’s nothing of that being done now? no one seriously can be that naive but bragging about “see, i knew it” doesn’t make anything better either.

some noobs like me will keep having the time of their life with this sim, it might become a new hobby and some us might even be inspired to spend money for a ppl. this constant whining about issues we - by now - all know about is actually driving early birds like myself somewhat away from this “sim” community.

geez, even if i would get an airliner up in the air in this very game via its somewhat simplistic check list, i would never even be able to get it where i want even with its limited functionality. but this (and ya) IS probably me - i admit it. i still have to learn a lot.

x-plane probably won’t have to worry for the mid to pro simmers but us losers i bet we won’t go there - for now!

like it or not. well, probably you do like it because somewhere down deep in my i really do think that this is your true intention.

First we should know what exactly is meant by “X-Plane has nothing to worry about”.

Worry about disappearing? Clearly no.

But of course it has to worry about making XP better if it still want to rivalize in 3-4 years. Personnally i found it absolutely great that MSFS came out, because it will accelerate the developpment in the flightsim-market.

At the end we can only take profit from MSFS. X-Plane as well

This post and any like it is guaranteed to be a ■■■■ show, same if you go over to xplane forums and make a post saying “msfs has nothing to worry about.” They are over there bashing msfs as well, as a matter of fact, i can’t even post in the msfs thread over there, i think i’m banned from it lol There’s going to be more people in this forum for msfs and vice versa at the xplane forums. Whats the point of post like this? other than to stir ■■■■.

The thing I like about this forum is that mods are 100% fair and won’t get in the way of the discussion, no matter how ugly it gets (on topic and respectfully, of course).

I have no problem waiting for Microsoft (or 3rd party) to fix this “game” to the point it can be used without reinvesting in a new motherboard, CPU and RAM. I’ve already invested $100 in this beta membership. I might as well stick it out.

. That made me laugh

Xplane is yesterdays news 100%. Give it a few months and they’ll have the airliners worked out. If they don’t, then maybe people will stick with xplane for a while.

This game is already better than Xplane. It hurts to say, because I’ve put thousands of dollars in add ons for it. . . . but it’s true. I mostly fly in europe with 2020, because USA/asia seems messed up, and I have no issues with ILS, localizer, and weather usually. So once they fix it and I can fly in USA with actual consistency (I fly airliners), I’ll be a happy fuc@ing camper.

VR? Without VR it’s a game.

VR is coming in October, and others things will follows, it is almost finished as we speak direct from the team, outside fix\improvement, they have full backlog of feature to add and finish, update are each month.

And the best of all now is your comment that tries to tell me i was off-topic… Thats about the worst missunderstanding ever possible.

Really sorry, but your comment here replying to somebody else did make me smile.

Truly, life is a b**ch sometimes isn’t it ?

Hahahahahaha…VR is very realistic. If I had a nickel everytime I jumped into a real airplane with a phone strapped to my eyes, and two magic wands in my hands… LOL!!

That’s great. And you will smile even more as soon as you will discover that i answered to Strixx001349 that wrote initially to me (if you go 1 step more back in the message-history you will see it. Or do you think the answer to that other guy made sense knowing he was supporting that same guy against me?).

At least you made me smile as well. Yes, “■■■■” happens like you’re saying

With MSFS’ melted builidngs you will get it even better: a heart-attack perhaps? Take care

Clearly, but what sim (xplane included) came out the gates 100%… we’re in wk 3. I would say if third party planes and the sim continues to get better xplane has alot to get worried about. Which is a good thing because competition will make em grow. As of wk 3 just the base sim alone gives xplane a run on scenery, weather over graphics (I understand xplane fans have to compromise their feelings to justify the money spent).

You couldn’t describe VR further from the truth. Get a HP Reverb nip over to Xplane and fly!

They aren’t referring to the headset I suspect, but the default visuals of XP.

I find it difficult to go back, I have to admit.

Not only that, I’ve been running it every day since release, and have installed many different mods/scenery etc.

Not once have I had to fiddle around with a text file to ensure my various plugins are being loaded in the right order.

Nor have I had to seek out a library that the scenery creator has used, so all the custom assets are displayed at the airport in question.

I have not had to generate ortho scenery for the areas I want to fly in.

I have extracted a ZIP file in to the correct location, and fired it up.

The title of this thread makes me laugh everytime I see it. Who the hell made this? lol

In fact, the title makes no sense.I think it will not be deleted, so that we can laugh about the 8bit sim for a long time.
