XPlane has Nothing to worry about

The alternative is a lot of smaller topics. This is more manageable

Dear Frankbyte, please calm down, be rational, expect some humour from other posters and above all cease and desist from personal attacks.
You can flag my post but I will not change it.
Please note, it’s also a personal attack to imply someone is not having a mature conversation. I expect that you would not like it if I said that your comments were immature or toxic. I would not do that.

Dear Frankbyte, why should calling a piece of $60 software rubbish, outdated or EX-plane be provocative or a personal affront to you ? It’s not as if its your wife. It’s just humour.

Nobody here attacked you. Having a different opinion or not having an interest in your opinion is not a personal attack. It’s also not a reason to call the community toxic. This forum is not x-plane.org. Differing opinions are allowed here. If you don’t like a post, ignore it.

I have made my position clear numerous times but am still (indeed mockingly) waiting for someone to explain why a piece of software can worry or be prepared to discuss future sales revenues of Laminar Research, development of future x-plane version and funding thereof, etc. Hence my questions concerning your qualification to hold such discussion, etc.

It seem obvious that you are not prepared to discuss whether or not Laminar Research or X-plane users have anything to worry about in terms of the future of that piece of software called x-plane and just wish to avoid answering my questions despite your post aimed at me.

Lastly, calling the community toxic and refusing to name the posters who according to you are toxic is IMO more than biased. I would not want to belong to a toxic community.
Having said that to help you in a friendly way (think of it as an olive branch), I would still be pleased to get some rational and good answers from you.
P.S. We just got approval from the Forum Moderator Team to continue to attempt to discuss the actual topic. :slightly_smiling_face:

Ex-plane probably has something to worry about now

#########################################################################################################

‘Ex-plane’ ?

Ha, not yet !

I don’t know why you are expecting something like a professional market- and financial analysys about a simple affirmation made for users to discuss. That’s what discussions are made for. It’s not a business analysys. I think you are the only one which such expectations, don’t you think? Hence, i don’t know exactly what you try to reach by asking me if i am a market specialist or Microsoft-employee. Perhaps your humor? In such forums it’s about experience and sharing thoughs. Sure they can be precised by datas if some datas are around but not mandatory at all.

And as i explained (and have assumed you hopefully did understand), constantly mocking will lead to other not taking your posts seriously and can been seen as trolling. This will lead to a non serious discussion. Humor is being able to use it at the right moment and on a way that is clearly recognized as humor and not as mocking.

And do you want an example of attacking? That was actually your own post (see quote below), as soon as i showed a picture of the framerates i got by using complex sceneries. This was to show to the guy reporting an issue that the problem must be on his side. This guy then (of course) didn’t bother answering as he was clearly only trying to attack how bad X-Plane was and must have been ■■■■■■ of as i showed him that the problem must have been on his side and not coming form the software.

Simply showing some pictures coming from X-Plane made people like you reacting not to the content of my post but only to content of the image and commenting how bad it was, although it was not at all the purpose of my post as i explained many times but got ignored (read above if you want, i don’t want to spend time linking all posts form days ago)

Now i am still waiting for you to show me where you explained your position about the content of the topic on a normal non-mocking and/or attacking way. In your last post there was again nothing about that i could read.

Last thing: you talked about flagging you? I actually don’t even know what that is
i am new to this forum and already had difficulties to find how to quote a post.

Do I get a t-shirt with 1000 on it?

Maybe I can help?

We should get this thread framed it’s so good

WARNING! Off topic post:

I would really appreciate if you made a comment about the topic and not only about the numbers of posts. This would have helped reducing the amount of them, as it seems to be concerning you.

That is a fantastic sentence. Based on user data from steamcharts and other sources, I think that XPlane has Nothing to worry about (currently). Once MSFS2020 alpha/beta testing is done, and the game is released in another year or two, that may change!

I’m glad that someone else recognizes this.

X-plane can catch up easily with weather rework.

Dear frankbyte,
Sorry I can’t help you understand that saying something negative about a sim or scenery you may be using is not a personal attack on you or mocking you. You are on an FS2020 forum (not x-plane.org) and unless you loudly declare your sensitivity no-one can know that you would be deeply hurt by anything negative said about your favourite game and its accessories.

As to your assessment and advice on what trolling is, please don’t act as if you were forum moderator or talk down to me. I am probably older than you. If you find a post not conforming to the Rules of Conduct of this forum, simply flag the post and avoid making trolling accusations yourself.

You are IMO obviously not prepared to discuss the topic, so I will ignore your future post addressed to me. I may/will however comment on posts you make, whether you like it or not. As I said, we are not at x-plane.org.

Happy flying with FS2020 and hope that you will soon have no choice but to praise this fantastic sim because of the many released improvements.

You’re right, X-Plane doesn’t have to worry
about me being a customer, because I’m not anymore. I started with X-Plane 9 and I had nothing but issues and complaints the entire time, all the way through XP 11, all of which were ignored by the dev team. They fixed nothing that made any real difference, leaving the most glaring bugs and broken features completely unaddressed, especially if it had anything to do with visuals. They always said the next version would be much better, but I got the impression they would have made it a text-based simulator if they could have gotten away with it.

When they did issue updates, which was few and far between, it was for ridiculous things like, “The third bolt from the end of the left wing tip no longer increases wind drag by 0.00002% during daylight hours while using mouse yoke and flying inverted below 500 feet”. Gosh, gee, thanks. I was worried about that.

I stuck with it for 3 major versions, hoping each time it would finally reach a respectable level, but it always ended up being something I just sort of “dealt with”, and I didn’t get much excitement from it. It was a little better after I installed some 3rd party aircraft and terrain mesh packs (for only a few parts of the world that took up a crazy amount of HDD space) but the only thing I actually thought was worthwhile was the helicopter flight modeling.

In the end the list of cons always outweighed the pros with every version, and the technical issues I encountered with it over the years, or even just XP 11, far exceeds any issues going on with FS 2020 at this point. You couldn’t pay me to go back now.

Exactly. I like Nerds, please, not in games. Let’s talk about seasons and snow. “No one want snow”

Hi Scarmax88
A very informative post. May not be liked by some. Do you think the problem with x-plane was that Laminar did not (unlike Asosbo/MS) heed the wishes of its mainstream users? I always wondered why LR apparently did not discover something called prop-wash after 20 years of development (and the announcement of FS2020).

I would however keep he price question open, you never know what could be offered to retain customers.

I can easily become an Astronaut.
