XPlane has Nothing to worry about

Really? I have both sims and I stopped using XPlane11 due to crappy graphics.

If it takes only these 6 persons you’ve counted to elevate the discussion and bring valuable points, why closing it so early?

If a 7th one which was off this forums for a week is coming back tomorrow and adds more to the discussion, why closing it before he gets a chance to do so?

In turn, even if there are only 2 persons left discussing in this thread, this might prove being highly valuable information for Asobo as well, and there is already lots of valuable information here so why closing it now and preventing us all from getting even more later?

Does it really bring valuable points? And if yes - for whom and for how many persons? Boring or nerving 200 people, so that may be a hand full of people have had their “enlightment” (how ever this may look like), isn´t really a valid argument to keep a threat alive …

normally I would regard this thread as a simple exchance of views, what would be completly okay, if standards of etiqette would be regarded and a certain open minded athmosphere would be applied… but this discussion rather reminds me on the endless discussion of my daughters going out for a date… Pink? or green? Skirt or jeans? See, one can also discuss about banalities for endless hours, like this is the case here …

And one last word may be about the quality of administration here … I still wondered why this thread wasn´t closed last week already … But strangely - if I see the post at the bugs subforum happily closed for minor-issues, I also ask myself which formal guidelines for thread participations are applied by admins here. It is a dubious one …

If you are a flight instructor, then MSFS is the sim. It’s about teaching your students to fly visually.

I also completely disagree with your false characterization that MS is a game whereas X-Plane is a sim. That’s marketing speak from the Laminar Research people.

MSFS arguably has generated excitement from the entire sim community. It unlocks possibilities that were never before available anywhere else.

And this is a v1 product. Not v11. MSFS despite the name doesn’t inherit much of the code from its previous generation. For a v1 product to blow away a v11 product says a lot.

And I’m sure your VFR students will appreciate learning to fly to new airports by first seeing how it is with MSFS. You absolutely cannot do that with the default dark and gray sceneries of X-Plane. I know, I PLAY both.

After spending probably 100 hours in MSFS, I must admit that I agree with you, especially after I found the FS-FlightControl app and the ForeFlight link. And you’re right - this is only going to get better, as long as MS doesn’t shelve it.

I enjoy MSFS every day, and see no need to fire up XPlane again. In fact, I did try XPlane again, and as soon as I saw the graphics, I shut it down!

Especially when multi-monitor support is provided, I can see MSFS doing far more for teaching basic VFR flying than XPlane ever could. I use XPlane for teaching procedures, pacing, emergencies, communications training, etc. But MSFS will be good enough to use for visual training, especially when the flight modeling improves. And one day, it could be a great IFR teaching platform, too.

It seems that there is little value left in this conversation. It is getting personal which you may enjoy but is not in the spirit and Code of Conduct of this forum. Therefore it is time to close this and move on
