Xr_error_runtime_failure

Dear all,

today I was tweaking some settings in the developer tool and noticed that there is a message at the system status page:

“(XR_ERROR_RUNTIME_FAILURE) Origin: xrcreateinstance”

I am not able to start the demo scene. This is strange as the sim works fine in vr and I have good performance. Few days ago I updated the OpenXrToolkit and opencomposite dll via the system wide install menu - nothing else changed in my system.

Any thoughts? Is this normal?

Do you have other OpenXR API layers like XRNS or OXRMC? These need to be installed in system paths (like ProgramFiles) otherwise the OpenXR Tools for WMR gets confused by permissions.

Best way to check is for you to look in your registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Khronos\OpenXR\1\ApiLayers\Implicit and see if anything there isn’t pointing to ProgramFiles.

Thank you for your response! I have never heard about XRNS and OXRMC, I dont know what are these so my answer is no, I don’t use them, but tonight I will check the registry.

I use the Develloper Tool to set the render scale, opencomposite (I run the system wide installation) because I have the steam version of the sim and the latest OpenXRtoolkit. Nothing else.

Ok, I checked the registry and there was OpenKneeboard, wich I totally forget (once I installed it for DCS). Deleted it and now works. Thank you!
